vacation rental description
Welcome to Camelot!
Welcome to your home away from home, set on over one and one half acres of private gardens in beautiful Watch Hill. This fantastic family home is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac within minutes of some of the most beauttiful beaches in New England and is an ideal vacation home for a single family or extended family, multiple families or couples.
In the height of the summer the beauty of the Watch Hill location can be experienced to the full, but even in the off-season ample opportunities exist to enjoy a round of golf on the many links courses, or to play tennis on the private tennis court, or to dine at the world-renowned Ocean House restuarant.
The house is set in manicured gardens with a heated in-ground pool and new DecoTurf tennis court, as well as a deck with outdoor speakers and grilling and dining facilities for an incredible outdoor summer entertainment experience. The house has a unique floor plan with four bedrooms in the main house and 3 additional bedrooms in a private guest suite by the pool. The house has full TV, Internet and phone facilities, with Wifi access throughout and a whole-house sound system with CD, iPod and even a turntable, so you can bring your own vinyl or sample the house collection.
Overview of the house (refer to the floor plans in the attached images for a comprehensive view of the layout).
Starting on the ground floor, there is a large open foyer which opens on to the center hall colonial layout, with an elegant living room to the left and a large formal dining room to the right. In the rear of the house is a captivating sunroom/family room filled with natural sunlight and an entry to the deck. To the right is the up-to-date, large country kitchen with breakfast bar/center island, stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops, which opens onto a cozy eating area that looks out onto the gardens.
There are four bedrooms in the main house, including one bedroom on the first level, with a queen bed and an adjoining full bathroom.
The upper level has 2 more generously-sized bedrooms as well as a grand master suite. The first bedroom has a canopy queen-size bed for the ultimate in romantic relaxation. The second bedroom consists of two twin-sized beds to accomodate single adults, or children. The two bedrooms share a full bathroom. The second floor landing has another relaxing seating area, which crosses over to the majestic master suite. This suite consists of a queen-sized four poster bed with en suite seating area and library for relaxation away from the main house, as well as full private bathroom.
To add to the experience is a separate guest suite which includes three additional bedrooms for you or your guests, one with a queen-sized bed and seating area, the second with a twin-sized day bed, and the third a special room we call the 'boat room' which has been built to resemble the hull of an upturned boat and contains a built-in twin-sized bed and matching crib for a baby. This guest suite also contains a full shower, a private bath with sunken tub overlooking the grounds and the tennis court, and a small private deck overlooking the pool.
About Watch Hill
For those not familiar with the area, Watch Hill is an exquisite seaside village nestled on a peninsular point of land that is surrounded by the Block Island Sound. Napatree Point forms one end of the peninsula and is the westernmost point in all Rhode Island. The Watch Hill community is welcoming yet non-intrusive or ostentatious. The Village of Watch Hill is a seasonal treasure where you will find specialty boutiques and the harbor filled with magnificent yachts that is home to the Watch Hill Yacht Club. The Flying Horse carousel (circa 1879) is touted as the oldest operating carousel in the United States. East Beach and Napatree in Watch Hill offer the most glorious beaches in all Rhode Island and maybe in New England, offering a rare combination of pleasant water temperature, gentle sloping beaches and a nice break of surf on many days that offers the opportunity to frollick in the waves, boogie board, or even surf! As part of the exclusive Watch Hill Fire District, you will enjoy all the amenities of Watch Hill with free parking passes - a much sought after commodity.
The Westerly train station is less than five miles from the house and offers easy access to and from, New York, Boston, Providence, or anywhere on East Coast. Green Airport (Providence) is approximately 45 minutes away and Logan Airport (Boston) 75-90 minutes away by car.
And there is so much to this residence and location that you have to experience: it is a mere 12 mile jaunt via Ferry to Block Island - an island very reminiscent of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. It is 30 minutes from Newport with the historic mansions, and the tennis Hall of Fame and only 30 minutes from the Mohegan Sun where you can chance your luck at the Casino or enjoy some great live entertainment by top artists or dine in some of the featured restaurants.
We could go on, but hopefully this has given you a good taste of what to expect when you vacation at Camelot!
