Lovely level lot, right on the river with a large, covered deck overlooking a pristine, sandy beach area and one of the most beautiful "swimming holes" imaginable. The home has heart pine floors throughout, unique "redwood brick" walls and an open great room with cozy country kitchen, equipped with microwave, toaster over, gas stove and all the necessities; a newly upgraded bathroom has a large shower and pedestal sink, a comfortable living area with basic cable TV, Internet connection, CD player, propane heat, and a new sofa plus two recliner chairs. The master bedroom has a new queen, platform bed with quality mattress and linens and the second bedroom is comfortably furnished with two twin beds. There is a covered eating area on the deck with old fashioned swing and a small charcoal grill plus rocking chairs for a relaxing snooze!

Located right on the river, you will want to enjoy swimming, rafting and fishing - a couple of poles are provided - but don't forget the license! Nearby, there is horseback riding, golf, and hiking. The small towns of Burnsville and Spruce Pine offer wonderful shops, art galleries and the fifth largest arts and crafts community in the United States. There are many local herb and vegetable farms and plenty of grass fed beef available in the local markets. Two golf courses are close by plus a number of restaurants. On the Blue Ridge Parkway, guests will enjoy a visit to Mt. Mitchell State Park - highest peak in the Eastern United States; the Folk Art Museum, the North Carolina Mineral Museum, Emerald Village Gem Stone Mine, Linville Falls and Caverns, Grandfather Mountain and many other local attractions.

Serendipitous Serenity

My husband and I recently spent a week at Clearwater Cabin, with our two children (ages 7 and 9). What a great retreat! It is smartly decorated, private, and well appointed, with all the conveniences of home (including internet). There are many windows to leave open, by which to enjoy the sounds from the river as well as the babbling creek, that runs along by the kitchen and master bedroom. Great cross ventilation and perfect weather, even in the middle of summer! The ceiling fans kept the rooms very comfortable when there wasn't a breeze. We didn't venture out to eat much, so I was happy to find lots of spices and condiments to make our meal preparations not only more flavorful, but economical as well, since we didn't have to invest in various accoutrements. We all loved being right on the river and my kids stayed down there playing for hours every day. There is a small beachy area that stays sunny until early evening, so I enjoyed being able to tan (and then cool off with a quick dunk in the river). My husband caught a nice size trout the first day! The river is easily negotiated (wading by foot) to get to other spots to cast out or float downstream on a tube. The deck is very large and offers beautiful views of the river. It's nice also (from a parent's perspective) to be able to see down from the deck, to check on the children at the shoreline. We chose not to venture out sightseeing too much (this vacation anyway), but having been to the area prior to this visit, we can attest to the many attractions and activities for folks of all ages and interests. Clearwater Cabin is in perfect proximity to many of the wonderful sights of Western NC and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for either some peaceful R & R or activity filled days of splashing, seeing, and doing! One week wasn't long enough for us... next time we'll make it two for sure. A special thanks to Winter Star Real Estate for their courteous professionalism. Julia was a pleasure to do business with and we eagerly look forward to our next stay!

Rolling River Retreat

Perfect place to beat the summer heat. We spent hours on the big outdoor deck watching the birds feed, and listening to the soothing sounds of the rolling river. We saw a Great Blue heron, a river otter, deer and a beautiful Luna moth. Great places to visit nearby including the Quiet Retreat Center (beautiful chapel open to the public with a spectacular view of the mountains) and Mountain Farm (where you can go to buy goat milk and lavendar products). The cabin is very comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and enjoying great meals. Also found great restaurants in Spruce Pine (El Ranchero) and in Asheville (Sweet Tupelo Honey).

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway

Redwood Brick Cabin

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at this interesting redwood brick cabin. never have seen another like it! right on the S. Toe River with a beautiful swimming hole just down the steps from the covered deck! though close to the street it was very quiet. neighboring cabins/houses were not visible so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. kayakers and tubers would drift by and you could hear swimmers playing down the river a bit. my kids had a wonderful time swimming and playing in the river and the fishing was great! sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds battle for the feeder was better than anything on TV. is located between Burnesville and Spruce Pine - small towns with grocery stores but not many choices for eating out. not a bad drive to sight see. we visited the Linville Caverns and Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock and Mt. Mitchell. stunning views at all 3 locations. only complaint was that the porch swing is too high. We would recommend this cabin to a couple, a family with small children or anyone that loves to fish. We would be more than happy to visit this cabin again.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, sight seeing
