In the charming Venice Gardens neighborhood, just a quick drive from the beach, sits Castaway, our bungalow-style house with brand-new furniture, plenty of space, and a big grassy yard. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets plus all the comforts of home here!

At Castaway, you are just 10 minutes away from historic downtown Venice Beach, with all its unique shops and attractions, plus one of the most beautiful beaches on the Gulf. Yet once you reach our house, you feel a world away from the crowds and the tourists and the commerce. Castaway is in a friendly, quiet neighborhood where kids play outdoors and folks sit out on their patio in the evening. It’s truly the best of both worlds!

At first glance, Castaway may remind you of the beach houses of your youth. It has a huge front window, a gently sloping roof, and a yard that includes a fenced-in area (great for toddlers to ride their Big Wheels) as well as wide-open spaces, all covered with springy grass. Off-street parking is available here.

But once you step inside, you see that the retro charm of the exterior is matched by the contemporary convenience of the interior. New furniture graces nearly every room at Castaway, along with modern technology such as the flat-screen TV with DVD player in the entertainment center in the living room. Central air-conditioning cools the balmy Florida weather silently, and ceiling fans are available for more temperate days. Central heating keeps Castaway cozy during the rare winter chills. Welcome to your home-away-from-home in Venice!

In the big, sunny living room, an ultra-comfy leather couch and easy chair around the TV, a pair of cozy reading chairs with sunshine spilling in beside the big window. There is plenty of open space in this room, so the kids can set up their toys and projects, and the whole group can get together without feeling crowded. What a change from cramped hotel rooms!

Adjacent to the living room is a large, nicely appointed dining room with a big table and comfortable chairs beneath a modern chandelier. After the meal, sweep aside the dishes and break out the Monopoly and Cranium for an evening of old-fashioned fun! This room is elegant enough for Thanksgiving dinner, but also perfect for games and puzzles just in case you want a break from the beach and sightseeing.

The galley-style kitchen is just beside the dining room, and contains everything you’d need to prepare and serve a feast. Full-size appliances and time-savers such as a microwave are waiting for you here, along with a cheery window over the sink, smooth-top range, and brand-new countertops. The cupboards are full of dishes, cookware, and utensils – all you add is the food itself!

There are 2 bedrooms at Castaway, plus a big sunny playroom which can be used as a third bedroom if you like (the futon flattens out into a bed for 2). The playroom may become your favorite space in the house, with its French doors leading out to the backyard, plenty of open space, and privacy. This is a great place for the members of your group who like to get up early and take a walk in the beautiful Gulf mornings.

The master bedroom is quiet and restful at Castaway, featuring a queen-sized bed with windows in several directions. Soft carpeting feels so good on those hot “beach feet,” and there’s plenty of room to move around in this room. The second bedroom also contains a queen-sized bed, with a little bedside lamp and a window you can see out of from the bed.

The bedrooms share the full bathroom at Castaway, which offers both a shower and tub option. We provide all linens and towels for all the beds and the bath, as well as free wireless Internet throughout your stay. Pack light and come as you are – you’ll find our house well furnished and fully appointed. A grocery run is probably all you need for a great visit!
