vacation rental description

Thank you for finding The Lake Mcqueeney River Home ranked best "in category home" on Lake McQueeney since 2002.

The spirit of The River existed for our family long before the property was recorderd in Volume 1 Page 1 of the Guadalupe Valley Courthouse. The property still retains its original old river charm in combination with the new river resort atmosphere."The River home sits on a privately gated and beautiful 6 acre peninsula over looking (and parallel with), the Guadalupe River. It is located 7 miles from New Braunfels off Hwy 46 on the Guadalupe portion of Lake McQueeney. (Lake McQueeney is the largest of the 3 lakes fed by the Guadalupe River just below New Braunfels).

The home is the first of 5 houses on the located on the peninsula. The 2000 sq ft. home is like new and well groomed. It sits amidst tall shade trees and lush St. Augustine grass. It is perfect for families and kids wanting an inside and outside experience.

As far as the inside goes... most of the home's rooms share a view of the Guadalupe River. The crown molded interior is vaulted with ceiling fans and either Berber carpet or ceramic tile flooring. There is a large well stocked kitchen with cephalon counters and bar connected to a spacious dining room with a dining table seating 8. The bar facing the kitchen, seats 4, and the breakfast table seats 2.

The downstairs bedroom with an antique claw foot tub/shower and the upstairs bedroom with a tiled shower and skylight contain queen sized beds. The upstairs dormitory has two skylights illuminating two single beds and a kingsize bed. The dormitory shares the upstairs bath with the upstairs bedroom. There is also a washer and dryer area off the downstairs bedroom and bath for added convenience.

The home's living room and kitchen area open to a large wrap around front and side porch where lots of family fun can be had. There are ceiling fans, stereo speakers an outdoor table and seating complementing an old porch swing like you remember from the good ole days. Off the back of the house is a screened porch to hang your wet clothes and/or store your coolers.

The home has 100 feet of private water frontage with a 4 foot and 8 foot pier with swimming ladder for swimming, tubing and fishing. There is also a rope swing, canoe and electrical connection for your convenience. There is another 2400 feet of seldom used private home owner park frontage immediately contiguous with the western propertry line of the property. This entire area is great for long early morning walks, exploring, more fishing, or putting in tubes up river to float back to the house. There is usally a volley ball court set up.

By the river swing there is a large river patio and upstairs deck over looking the river, which is communally shared by us (the owners). As available, these areas can be reserved for totally private use if you or us have a special occassion to celebrate.

The organic garden is usually available to nibble from. There is also a trampoline, a basket ball goal and 1.3 acres of rugged bike trails (for the brave), behind the house.

The home's mission is to provide a beautiful, relaxing and fun atmosphere conducive to family bonding and friendships.

Welcome to The River !

house rental amenities

The LMRH has functioned as a home in the past and therefore is conveniently arranged and hosts a fully eqipped kitchen that most chefs would appreciate. Linens, paper goods, and basic spices are provided as are a restaurant recommendation list, and directions to the local stores, pharmacies and hospitals. Basic cable and highspeed wifi internet are on site; bring your cell phones for phone calling.

You'll have all the usuals - TV/DVD/VHS, Stereo/CD, Washer-dryer, Dishwasher, Microwave, Breadmaker, Coffee maker, Sun tea, Central AC/heat, Ceiling fans and stereo throughout the house. Outside you'll find a charcoal BBQ, fire pit down by the river, canoe and extra lawn furniture.

Unique things you may spot while here are the indigenous Blue Green Heron and Guadalupe River ferns, King Fishers, Wood Ducks and fire flies as well as huge elephant ears, owls, hawks, armadillos, raccoons, wild birds and indigenous flowers. The peninsular pets include - Bailey the Jack Russel Terrier and Snowball the Maltese. (Off season Snowbird's will discover the seasonal rhythm of the river, and its surroundings).

It's fun to try to catrch the local water ski at the ski lodge, which occurs every Thursday evening on the lake. The lodge also rents ski boats with driver by the hour. As a highlight to your stay, we also highly recommend booking the private party boat to take your party to dinner at sunset across the lake and then back for a midnight cruise.

Finally, because the owners live on the peninsula, there is prompt (usually!), and personal attention should you have questions or encounter any problems.

Review of River Home

linda (Harlingen, Texas USA)
Review submitted: October 11, 2011   Date of arrival: October 3, 2011

We were a group of six "over 70" ladies enjoying a High School get-together. It was the most wonderful place to stay for us to relax, visit, cook, go sight-seeing around the nearby towns. The owners were especially nice and very informative with all questions asked before and after our stay. The home is very clean and very well equipped for anything you might need the time you are there. This home is located close to many nice restaurants. We especially liked eating in Gruene, we ate fish in Sequin and the best place was the Huisatch Restaurant in New Bransfels. We were able to go directly to the location of the house by entering the address in the GPS and it got us right to the entry gate.
