The Sand Castle in Gulf Shores

When you check the calendar, the yellow dates are tentative.  If those dates interest you, be sure to inquire about availability.  Usually that means we are awaiting a deposit that might have never arrived.  

This home is located on Little Lagoon. It is less than a block from the beach. It is about 8 blocks from where Highway 59 intersects with Beach Boulevard. Please note the last photo in this ad. The
circle indicates where the house is located on the lagoon and its proximity to the beach. It is a very short walk. Also, the photo is pre-Ivan so the old "Beach House" condominiums are gone. This is an open beach area at the present time.The large dining and living area comfortably accommodates a large group. The house is raised so cars are covered and kept cool at all times. A hammock under the house provides a breezy shaded area for parents to supervise kids at play. Personally, my favorite place for morning coffee is in this hammock, watching the herons and jumping fish in the lagoon. The grill and dining table here make it easy to enjoy a cookout as well.  This is a no-smoking home. As for pets, please speak to owner before bringing your pet. If an unauthorized pet is detected, the security deposit will be forfeited.  We do allow pets but have some rules.

This house will sleep 8 adults comfortably. Children who don't mind sleeping on the chair/ottoman can increase available sleeping arrangments. The living area is large enough to accommodate a couple sleeping bags or inflatable mattresses as well. The house has all the usual amenities including washer/dryer, disposal, and dishwasher. Cable TV with VCR/DVD.  TV's in all three bedrooms, too.  There is internet (ethernet cable required - not supplied).  The bedrooms are one king, one queen, and two twins. In addition, there is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room.

Google Gulf Shores for an endless list of things to do for kids of all ages. From this property it is about a half block walk to the beach and the Lagoon is at your back door. Within walking distance one will find Bahama Bob's which is great place to eat outside next to the Gulf. Pier 33 Groceries is just across the street, and you can get all of your beach needs here. The amusement parks, souvenir stores, seafood markets, drug stores and Walmart are less than two miles from the Sand Castle.  If you facebook or twitter, Alabama Gulf Coast is a great tool to plan and during your vacation.  You can post a question about a restaurant or whatever and get instant answers by others.  The new adventure park with zip lines in Gulf State Park is about three miles from the house as is the state fishing pier.  Some big events to research:

Mid-Spring Weekly Rates: $950 + cleaning fee.  Rates apply April 1 through May 15. Will consider renting less than a week, excluding holidays. Will discount for multiple weeks, excluding holidays. Daily rate for less than full week is $158 plus cleaning fee.  Monthly rate for this period is $2800.

Hangout Music Festival: Rates apply May 15-22.  $295 per night (includes all fees except refundable reservation/security deposit).  Four night minimum.  

Summer Weekly Rate: $1500 per week + cleaning fee.  Rates apply May 23 through Labor Day. Full weeks only Memorial Day through August 16.  If daily rate is applied, $262 plus cleaning fee. 

Late Summer Rate:  $1200 per week + cleaning fee.  Rates apply August 17 until Labor Day.  Rental for less than full week is daily rate of $200 per day plus cleaning fee.

Early Fall Rate:  $999 per week + cleaning fee.  Rates apply just after Labor Day to October 7. Will consider renting less than a week, excluding holidays. Daily rate for less than full week is $166 plus cleaning fee.

Shrimp Festival:  Daily rate $205 (includes all fees except refundable reservation/security deposit). Rates apply October 7-16.  Four night minimum. 

Late Fall & Holiday Weekly Rates: $800 per week + cleaning fee. Rates apply late-October to early January. Will rent less than a week, excluding holidays. Will discount for multiple weeks, excluding holidays. Daily rate for less than full week is $133 plus cleaning fee.  Monthly rate (28 days/4 weeks) for late fall/holiday is $1475 plus cleaning fee.

Winter Weekly Rates: $700 per week + cleaning fee. Rates apply just after New Years to early March. Will consider renting less than a week, excluding holidays. Will discount for multiple weeks, excluding holidays. Daily rate for less than full week is $116 plus cleaning fee. Will give significant discount for four or more weeks.  Monthly rate (28 days/4 weeks) for January and February is $1450 plus cleaning fee. 

Early Spring Weekly Rates: $850 per week + cleaning fee. Rates apply for March. Will consider renting less than a week, excluding holidays. Will discount for multiple weeks, excluding holidays. Daily rate for less than full week is $141 plus cleaning fee.  Monthly rate for March is $1600.

 Personal checks (if paid well in advance) is preferred. PayPal is an option. Can handle credit cards, if necessary.   There is a 3% surcharge for credit cards/PayPal.  A reservation/security deposit is required. This amount will be refunded within two weeks of departure if no damage has occurred to home or its furnishings.  Reservation deposit must be paid at time of reservation. Balance is due 14 days prior to occupancy to hold the reservation. The amount of this deposit will be determined upon length of stay.

Pets: Please inquire. Certain rules apply to pets.  If pets are determined to occupy house without owner's permission, the security deposit will be forfeited.
