Large house offering lots of space

Pros: reasonable rates; large house, allowing friends or family groups to have privacy as wanted. Large kitchen. Short walk to very nice town library with internet access. Ten minute walk to surfing part of town beach. 4 adult beach tags provided, which is great, since must pay for parking ($10) at Town Beach. Parking in driveway for 2 cars. Owner lives in town and responded quickly to call about problems in the house. Absolutely wonderful restaurant a few blocks away (Trio). Gas grill (though not in great shape).
Cons: few amenities: no internet, old TVs, no DVD, old appliances in the kitchen; washer/dryer old and stained several items of clothing we washed. House needs maintenance, replacement of furniture. We needed to drive to further away section of Town Beach in order to have beach with smaller waves that worked better for our grandchildren. For really calm beach, we drove to Roger Wheeler State Park (about 15-20 minute drive).
I fault myself for not asking more questions at the time I rented, eg about amenities. The description of the house describes the rooms and layout accurately. We were therefore disappointed to see it was in some disrepair. All of this said, the rental price could be doubled if the house were in better condition, so it will still work well for some. I just wish we'd had more accurate information, which is why I am writing this review.
