Just a three hour drive from the D.C. suburbs nestled in the Monongahela National Forest is a secluded area that provides something for everyone.

Imagine waking up in the midst of a squaw storm while the rest of the D.C. area experiences rain. The ski slopes at Timberline and Canaan Valley Ski resort stare at you from our deck, beckoning you for company.  After lighting a fire and enjoying a fresh cup of coffee; the biggest decision of the day is whether or not to tackle the two mile Salamander trail at Timberline, go for an adrenaline rushed double black diamond course, or something in-between.  You could simply decide to sled ride on the hills inside the resort.  The journey to both ski resorts is a straight 5 mile trek with wait times much lower than other ski resorts in the area. You wake up in a Winter Wonderland, light a morning fire and ponder the day.

After a long day of traversing the many slopes; enjoy a hot cup of cocoa by a home built fire or a glass of wine along with a therapeutic bubble bath. The biggest decision of the evening is whether or not to enjoy a family meal at home or go out and experience one of a variety of nearby restaurants for every budget.

During the summer; enjoy white water rafting down the Cheat River, horseback riding to the summit of Canaan valley, Euro tubing down the ski slopes, spelunking caverns in Dolly Sods, Euro bungee, mountain biking, or enjoy a day at a nearby pro golf course.

If you would rather kick back for a little R&R; enjoy a day at our heated pool, play tennis, fish at our privately stocked pond or relax on our extra large deck and surf the internet, read a good book, take a nap in fresh mountain air, or enjoy watching one of our many well stocked DVDs.

Our cabin, #27 has the best of both worlds. We have a spacious deck that backs up to a tree line in the summertime, but gives a beautiful view of the slopes during winter. Across from us is farmland with an occasional horse or two who is more than happy to eat grass from your hands. On the other side of the farm is a national bird sanctuary where you can view bald eagles, ravens, and other elegant birds at your leisure.

At night, sit out on our deck and view stars and galaxies that can be seen with the naked eye.

Our cabin is equipped with amenities not found at most rental properties. In addition to superb views, we have a multitude of great books, games, and DVDs that will please everyone. We welcome special occasions such as honeymoons, anniversaries, family reunions, etc.  We vacation there ourselves and stock it like a welcoming vacation home, not a sparse rental home.
