This spacious five bedroom Rowena home is located on an acre lot just 12 miles East of Hood River, and an hour from Portland. With two full kitchens and sleeping room for up to 12 guests, The Rowena House is an ideal retreat for families or groups looking to experience the beauty and endless activities of the Columbia River Gorge.

The remodeled home includes a large upstairs kitchen with new birch wood counter tops and hickory cabinetry, as well as a wine cooler, small eating area overlooking the front yard, and everything you would need to make complete meals on your trip. Connected to the kitchen is a dining room with seating for eight with more chairs to accommodate extras. The dining room opens to the spacious living room with an electric fireplace, three couches, and a 47" flat screen TV with cable and DVD player. From the living room, step out onto the new, giant wrap-around deck that overlooks the expansive Columbia River. Feel free to use the telescope inside to get a closer look!

Three bedrooms occupy the main level of the home. The first holds a custom 3/4-sized bed with a doubled mattress and a twin bed, the master bedroom includes a king bed and attached full bath, and the third bedroom contains another king bed and a 32" TV. Another full bath is on this floor as well.

Downstairs you'll find two more bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other with a full bed, as well as another full bathroom.

The downstairs living space maintained the old knotty pine siding from the original house, and includes a pellet stove situated in an exposed brick facade, a sleeper sofa, futon, and TV with dual VCR and DVD Player. A second kitchen includes a microwave, dining table with three chairs, sink, stove, and refrigerator.

A doorway leads you from the lower level into the laundry room and out onto the back patio, where you'll find an expansive backyard complete with a propane grill, 10 person hot tub, and hand carved bear picnic table for the ultimate outdoor relaxation experience. The landscaped front yard is a lovely place to sit and soak up the sun while admiring the blooming flowers as well.

Windsurfing, kite-boarding, water-skiing, biking, and hiking are just a few of the many activities that attract travelers to the Columbia River Gorge. Mayer Park is just a 1/2 mile from the home and has great water access for boating and every other water-based activity. A few miles up the historic Hwy 30 is the breathtaking Rowena Crest with unparalleled views of the Gorge. Tom McCall Preserve boasts 271 acres of land and is located at the Rowena Crest Viewpoint.

Just a short drive East is the Deschutes River for all levels of rafting and excellent Steelhead and Trout fishing. If shopping is your forte, drive into Hood River to find the many unique shops, art galleries, and breweries available. In the winter, Rowena is about an hour to Mt. Hood ski resorts.
