The owners were new to the vacation renters’ field, but they fielded every need with courteous cordiality and were certainly down to earth. Their own home was not very far away; thus, they were close at hand and weren’t third party managers. We found the middle class neighbourhood to be safe and mostly very quiet. Various grocery and retail shopping choices were close by. The home was a little over fifteen minutes to downtown Phoenix (and to Sky Harbour Airport) and equally so to the key hockey and football sports facilities. There were some very nice walking and hiking trails within 10 to 30 minutes away. For example, Skunk Creek Trail and Thunderbird Conservation Hiking Trails. A number of parks with lakes were pleasant to walk, especially with their night lighting. For example, Encanto Park was about 15 minutes away. Cesar Chavez Park was further, but very pleasant. Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa were more like 30 plus minutes away, but in any case, driving in Phoenix, for the most part, is a joyful, easy experience. (We rented much more cheaply from Hertz in the area and left the car at the airport upon departure.) Every municipality had its own wonderful arts and cultural center and facilities. . . . The house was bright and very roomy for two, but it would have also been so for more people. The kitchen was nice and easy to maneuver around. The bathrooms were comfortable. The washer and dryer were efficient. The air conditioning, heating system, and fireplace weathered every temperature need very well. The patio/backyard was a very harmonious blend of options: sun protection, openness, and privacy. The pool was colder in the winter months when we stayed there, but it surely would be nice during hotter times. We just liked having the shimmering of blue water next to our lounging chairs and seats. We did, however, make use of the hot tub and night lights in the evening a fair number of times. Very relaxing and again on the private side. The barbecue wasn’t used by us, but it was there “on cue” in case, we decided to use it. Channels on the TV were basic, so we often watched DVDs/Blu-rays to avoid commercials. The WiFi wasn’t speedy, but it worked well. Some extras that we certainly liked were the printer/scanner, daily newspaper, and foldable portable chairs for outdoor concerts. In addition, because we stayed three months, the owners gave us a very friendly discount.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway
