Castine, Maine has to be seen to realize what a gem you have found. A beautiful seaside town with a deep historical past where many revolution battles were fought. Within one hour of scenic Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Camden, Bangor International Airport, home of the Maine Maritime Academy, Castine has great accessibility. Castine offers several restaurants as well as many local points of interest, a salt water swimming pool, public beach, and Dyces Head light house, a few of the places that you just shouldn’t miss. Vacation Rental AmenitiesThe cottage has two bedrooms (a double, and two twins), a refrigerator, electric stove and oven, fully efficient kitchen with plenty of cupboard space including lobster pots, utensils, pots and pans etc. as well as an outdoor hibachis. The living room/dining area features a pullout couch, dining table, braided rugs, maple floors, and all knotty pine panels throughout. There is an 8’ by 14’ screened-in porch so that you can relax and enjoy the view. Activities and AttractionsRecreation: Castine has a nine hole golf course, several tennis courts, and a yacht club, all open to the public. Lessons in each of these activities available. If nature walking is your preference there are the Witherle Woods boasting Indian trails for walking and hiking. Walking: In addition to the Witherle Woods, Castine provides a walking map of the town enabling one to see everything they wish. Swimming: There is a rocky-sand beach safe for swimming on our property as well as swimming at the Wadsworth Cove public beach, also known as the Back Shore. Fishing: Enjoy fishing off the rocks at Dyce's Head Lighthouse. While you're there enjoy the view from up in the lighthouse. Boating: Boat charter options available at the waterfront. Other Attractions: Four churches, an art gallery, museum, restaurants, a few specialty shops and a local theatre group. Fresh lobsters, crabmeat, and fish can be purchased locally to enjoy right at your own cottage. Conveniences Available: Laundromat, beauty shop, a small grocery store, variety store, several telephone locations, bakery/delicatessen, two banks, one with ATM, and Castine is only a one hour drive from the city of Bangor which offers an airport and shopping mall. Among its other assets, Castine is home of the Maine Maritime Academy. At berth in the harbor is its training vessel on which tours are available. Vacation Rental RatesIn-Season: June 22-September 23 (weeks are Saturday to Saturday) One Week.....................................$725 Two Weeks (or more)..............................$625 Off Season: January-June 23 and September 24-December Weekly..........................................$550 Nightly.......................................$75-$150 Nightly rate depends upon length of stay and/or number in party. Two night minimum preferred. Nightly subject to availabilty Additional Information: *Rates for 1 or 2 person occupancy There is an additional charge of $25/week for occupancy over 2 persons. There is a 7% state rental tax on all rentals. A $300 non-refundable deposit is required to hold all reservations.
