Truly Lakefront Luxurious Log Cabin

We built our dream vacation home, Waters Edge, in 2007 after months of carefully designing the floor plan so that it would be perfect in every way.  Waters Edge is a luxuriously furnished log cabin with 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, and an Outdoor Shower for the warm months, that sleeps 12 and has all the amenities.  It is truly lakefront, being directly on Watauga Lake.  It has its own shoreline with its own private dock.  The home is spacious with 3,500 square feet and three stories.  You enter on the Main Level which has the Living Room, Dining Area, Kitchen, and Master Suite.  Above that is the Loft Sitting Area and a separate Loft Bedroom.  On the Lower Level is the Family Room with a Pool Table and Game Table, plus a Wet Bar, 2 more Bedrooms, the Laundry, and Outdoor Shower. There are 4 spacious decks and a balcony, all with fantastic views of the mountains and lake.  Two of the decks have a roof and one has a deck floor above it.  An outdoor sound system enhances your deck time!

Waters Edge has been furnished lavishly with all the creature comforts.  The Gourmet Kitchen has everything you will need to prepare the master banquet for your guests or simply mix drinks and cook out on the adjacent Main Deck.  Home theater, a flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, CD/DVD players, LCD TV, outside speakers, cable TV, and unlimited long distance telephone in the continental US fulfill your electronic needs.  The natural stone gas log fireplace, Jacuzzi jetted tub in the Master Bath, and fire ring by the dock will relax and mesmerize you.

Why Watauga Lake?

We are environmental professionals from Florida who love the mountains and the lakes.  We selected WataugaLake because it is one of the only lakes in the country at an elevation of 2,000 feet which means the weather tends to be cooler in the summer.  It is truly one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in the U.S.  With a shoreline 105 miles long, only 47 miles are developed, while the rest are part of the beautiful Cherokee National Forest.  Thus, there are fewer houses on the lake and it does not have the boat traffic congestion that other more developed lakes have.  Being environmentalists, that sits well with us and we are sure it will with you!

Location, Location, Location!

Waters Edge is just minutes from Butler, TN and conveniently located for leisure activities in all directions.  It is approximately 1.5 hours from Asheville, NC, 40 minutes from both Boone, NC and Johnson City, TN, an hour from Bristol NASCAR Motor Speedto way, and less than an hour to Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain.  There are plenty of recreational and leisure activities to select right at Waters Edge and within minutes of it.  The selection includes all water activities, hiking, biking, snow skiing and ice skating, horseback riding, scuba diving, parks, sightseeing, and just plain relaxation.  Your choices are endless!

All the Seasons

Yes, summer is our peak season and most popular time of the year.  However, more and more guests are discovering our 3 other great seasons.  The autumn reds, yellows, and oranges with cooler weather just have a way of saying "Relax!  You're on vacation.  Slow down and enjoy it!"

As the cool autumn weather turns colder, winter sets in and wow, that fireplace warms you to the bone.  Just out the window wall are the mountains and lake in all their snow-covered glory.  Within 50 minutes are 5 slopes to ski, snowboard, or tube on.  At the end of the day, the drive back relaxes you and when you arrive at Waters Edge, it's time to enjoy your own ski lodge. Good food and drink, the Jacuzzi jetted tub to relax those muscles, a fire and you're in heaven!

Come spring time, the budding trees and songbirds stir your spirit.  The weather warms up typically during the day, but cools off very nicely at night.  Though you may not want to swim yet, the complimentary canoe and kayak carry you quietly through your own private tour of Watauga Lake.  It is great to go sightseeing and take in some of the festivals and celebrations in the area within a 45 minute drive.

Peak season is the summer while holidays at other times of the year are mid-level.  Lower rates are non-summer, non-holidays.  Cleaning Fee is $150.00 and 13.5% State and Local Tax is required on Lodging Cost plus Cleaning.  Pet Fee of $100.00 is required for small to medium sized dogs.  Damage deposit of $200.00 is required but refundable if no damage, theft, excessive cleaning, or excessive garbage.
