vacation rental description

Please note: Our calendar is not always up to date.  Weeks that show as white are either open or may have a tentative reservation on them (VacationRentals.com no longer shows the category of "tentative" - they only show open weeks or unavailable weeks).    Those weeks showing in gray are "confirmed" and have had deposits received.

We do not make updates to this website's calendar every week.  Some weeks for Summer 2013 may be on a hold but not yet reflected in the calendar listings.

Please note:  The furnishings and vintage decor of this property may make it unsuitable for some young children due to the vintage nature.  Children should not be left unattended or unsupervised in the house.  Children under the age of 17 must be under the supervision of an adult over the age of 25 while in the home.

Compare our property to others in Lewes - we have the BEST rate for a house of this size and proximity to the water! FOUR bedrooms and TWO full baths!

Unique 100-year old beach home (circa 1906) - affectionately named The Hula House - with tropical/Hawaiian decor, 1.5 blocks to the beach.  Bike down to Cape Henlopen State Park, walk into town and shop the eclectic boutiques along Main Street, drive 3 miles down the road to Rehoboth Beach's Boardwalk. Pet friendly for most "good dogs," sorry, no kitties.

We enjoy sharing The Hula House with family and friends - and the majority of our renters have become friends!  We're very proud that over 85% of our renters choose to return to The Hula House as repeat guests.  Please keep in mind that this is our vacation home filled with vintage decor and special accents, and our expectation is that guests treat the house respectfully, and collectively help to maintain it's character and cleanliness.  We continually strive to update the house and make it a comfortable retreat for all that visit, which has helped us to maintain one of the highest number of summer AND off-season bookings in Lewes for over 10 years!! Thank you in advance for treating the house and furnishings as you would your own (or at least as you would a good friend's home). Well-behaved children, and most pups, are always welcome.

As with our own pups, dogs are not allowed free roam of the house.  When indoors, they are restricted to the large kitchen, which has a HUGE kennel in it, and also a baby gate.

activities and attractions in Lewes Delaware

The town of Lewes is a true gem in Delaware - quiet but progressive, where the sun, the sand, and the sea are still the number one attractions.  Lewes was founded in 1631, and the townspeople take great pride in its historic heritage.  Lewes is uniquely situated where the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean meet at Cape Henlopen. Nowhere can the beauty of Cape Henlopen State Park be equaled. In this preserved land you find miles of beautiful beaches, nature trails and bird sanctuaries.

Lewes Vacation

LeeAnn (Delta, PA)
Review submitted: September 17, 2012   Date of arrival: September 1, 2012

The house was super cute, very unique and comfortable. The front porch was a great hang out! The fenced in yard was perfect for my Chihuahua who was along for the trip. Other than the non cooperating weather, it was a successful vacation.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Review submitted: August 16, 2012   Date of arrival: August 4, 2012

This Is the first year we chose a rental home instead of a hotel for a family vacation. Lewes is a great family town and the hula house was an awesome place for our stay. The decor in the House is unique, the rooms are big and our family of six were very comfortable, not to mention our two terriers who joined us!

The property was cleaned on arrival, and very family-friendly. We enjoyed the big kitchen as well as the sit-down dining room, and the picnic tables on in the backyard as well as on the porch.

The property with some centrally located to the Delaware Bay, Cape Henlopen State Park and Rehoboth beach was only a short drive away. All in all a great place for them family vacation, and we will definitely be coming back.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet-friendly, sight seeing, tourists without a car

Helpful votes: 4 / 4
