West Harwich Duplex-Beach House in Harwich

Wonderful place for a vacation

We started coming to the West Harwich area in the late 70’s with our kids. This duplex is one of six cottages formerly known as Compass Cottages. Only three are now rental properties. They are nestled in an association among other private homes so the area is quiet and peaceful. The common area is very large for the sports mentioned, dining, and other activities.
We have come to these cottages since the early 90’s. We have rented the duplex for 1-2 weeks for the last ten years with all our adult children and now grandchildren. Our extended families have joined in other area properties so it’s sort of an annual family reunion.
As for the duplex it suits us just fine. It’s sort of funky, built with a nautical motif, the Port and Starboard. The rooms are not huge but adequate for five people. We find you do anyway spend most of your time enjoying the outside. The rear of the property has a nice private area, too. Kate and Ned have done a lot of upgrades to the property and are continually making improvements. From the above you see we keep coming back. In addition to activities mentioned we also play a lot of tennis and kayak in the harbors and on the ponds.
There are many inexpensive restaurants (Seafood Sam’s and Wee Packet are favorites) nearby, a Star’s Supermarket, movie complex, and other attractions. Last year we biked the National Seashore and Provincetown. There is always something new to do. I hope this is helpful to folks considering the rental. We love it here!

Great vacation spot

We have been renting this property for 10 years from Kate. We always have a delightful stay.

The cottage is close to the beach and bike trail. There are plenty of activities for kids. They walk or ride bikes everywhere.

There are restaurants close by in Harwich Port and Brewster. Chatham is also not far at all. Since it's Mid Cape, you can go anywhere on the Cape in a reasonable amount of time.

The front porch is great. You can sit out there rain or shine and drink your coffee in the morning and enjoy the quiet.

I would recommend this cottage for a family with young children or teenagers.
