Take a step back in time.  Did you ever wonder what it might have been like to live in one a Sea Captain's Cottage years ago?  Gain the true experience of life in Maine, the way it used to be, in this very charming home that has managed to maintain it's original charm and character for the time period, while being well maintained and lovingly cared for through the generations.  Very spacious home in a private and quiet setting just a few hundred feet up the road from Pumpkin Island Lighthouse.  There are also limited water views from the house.  However, take an evening stroll down the road a few hundred feet and witness the elegance and beauty of the Pumpkin Island Lighthouse and the absolutely breathtaking ocean views.  Very close to the Pine Hill Nature preserve for those enjoying hiking and nature.  A perfect location and a perfect experience.  The house offers 4 bedrooms.  However, because this home is still on a delicate septic system, a maximum for 4 people may stay and enjoy its beauty at one time.

Located on the Penobscot Bay, Deer Isle and Stonington is an island accessible by bridge that offers the very best of Coastal Maine for any visitor.

For those who like a more casual visit, you can spend countless hours exploring the local art galleries and gift shops in both the villages of Stonington and Deer Isle. Visit the Historical Society museum and explore the 1830 house with its original furnishings and vintage clothing. For a truly unique experience, take an art class at the world renowned Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. For fresh produce, crafts and more, be sure to check out the famous Friday Farmer's Market in Stonington. After a day of exploration, relax at the historical Stonington Opera House in Stonington and enjoy a variety of shows and events including music, variety shows, plays, dance workshops and films.

For the ocean lovers: Visit the fishing village in Stonington and explore the activities of the local fishing community. Watch the daily activities of the fishing boats from the sidelines or take a cruise on one of the ferry boats (Isle au Haut Boat Services,  Old Quarry Ferry & Taxi Boat Services, Guided Island Tours) that will allow you to experience the art of lobstering yourself! Take a trip to Isle au Haut on one of the local ferries and enjoy a day of beachcombing or bicycle riding. Kayaking along the rocky coastline is a great way to explore the island and enjoy nature at its best. Rent a kayak and make your own adventure or take a guided tour with one of the local tour guides (Old Quarry Ocean Adventures, Guided Island Tours).

For our golf and tennis enthusiasts, Deer Isle has a Country Club with a 9-hole golf course and three tennis courts which are open to the public. After a round or two of golfing, visit the cafe for lunch.

If nature is your thing, there are numerous walking trails on Deer Isle and Stonington, all of which are maintained by theIsland Heritage Trust and Maine Coast Heritage Trust. If you still haven't had enough hiking after exploring these trails, Acadia National Park is only a little over an hour drive away. Acadia National Park offers 47,000 acres of coastal shoreline, mountains, wooded areas, bogs and views that will take your breath away.
