Nelson vacation rentals
Nelson is a town in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, in the southwestern region of the state. It is situated between the Connecticut and Merrimack rivers. A branch of the Ashuelot River runs through the southern part of town and the Contoocook River is also accessible. Nelson possesses a Guinness World Record for the longest-running public contradance (a form of paired folk dancing) — the event is held in Nelson's town hall each Monday night. Visit the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, a classical chamber music group that performs regularly and has the mission of bringing diverse cultures together through music. Nearby is The Friendly Farm, a five-acre farm which is set up so that visitors can get close to the animals and feed and pet them. Nelson offers opportunities for recreational sports such as snowmobiling, biking, hiking, boating, fishing (brook trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass) and hunting. The Historical Society of Cheshire County offers information about the town’s past in the form of exhibits including research level collections of glass, pottery, and other locally produced items, along with an extensive collection of genealogical information. The society also operates The Wyman Tavern Museum. Built 1762, it was used as a tavern for 40 years and it is now maintained as a period house museum representing the period from 1770 to 1860.
