South India’s Andhra Pradesh has Hyderabad with a more unique variance of architectural styles, and the Thousand Pillar Temple in Warangal. Lakshadeep is a collection of 36 islands of coconut industry and water sports such as wind surfing and snorkeling. Dine at a fine restaurant in Bangalore, Karnataka, and then explore the carved temples in Balur and Halebid. Multicultural Kerala has a number of backwater cruises available, and the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a fantastic way to view wild Indian elephants. Tamil Nadu is a stronghold of Hinduism, and its capital of Madras is the site of a premier beach.

East India has the exquisite Andaman and Nicobar Islands beaches and associated coral beds; peer at the Cellular Jail. Wildlife abounds while you travel through Namdpha National Park in the border state of Arunachal Pradesh. In Sibsagar, Assam, Shiva Temple is considered to be the highest Hindu temple in India. Buddhism is tied closely with the state of Bihar; Bodhgaya is sacred for both Hindus and Buddhists, and visit the ruins of the most ancient university worldwide in Nalanda. Manipur has local performing arts such as the puppet-like Manipuri dance and the martial art of Thang-ta. Nagaland is filled with lush colors and the folklore-heavy sixteen tribes and sub-tribes. Both sightseeing and outdoor sports are satisfied in the foothills of the Himalayas in Sikkim. Many attractive locations exist in the state of Tripura, and West Bengal is home to the large city of Calcutta, and the Sundarban forest with a large collection of Royal Bengal tigers.
