vacation rental description

This romantic cabin is within the Giant Sequoia National Monument at 3800' elevation with a breathtaking view of the Sierra to the east and an expansive view of the valley (sometimes to the Coast Ranges) to the west.

A stunning waterfall and series of pools carved out of solid granite bedrock are on the property just behind the cabin on Bear Creek for cooling off or relaxing by. The cabin sits above the waterfalls and access is by a short but steep switchback trail down to creek level. (General terrain and trail may be difficult for some children and adults not in good physical shape. Ask owner)

It's a perfect 'out there' couple's or writer's retreat for those who want to lose the touristy scene and find some serenity.

The cabin is surrounded by pines, oaks and manzanitas and serenaded by the sound of the waterfall. The site was a long-time camp for local Native Americans. Artifacts have been discovered here and mortar stones for grinding acorns surround the cabin.

The house is located on Bear Creek Road within the Giant Sequoia National Monument, and 10 miles from the quaint village of Springville . Drive 8 miles farther up the mountain and drive, hike, ski or horseback to ancient Giant Sequoia groves and idyllic mountain lakes in Balch Park .

traveler reviews for this sequoia cabin rental

Review submitted: December 19, 2007   Date of arrival: August 1, 2007

My husband and I spent two wonderful weeks at the Waterfall Cabin. It was all it was described to be and more! The proximity of the Great Sequoias makes the area special, to say the least. The owners of the property are gracious and hospitable, for example offering homegrown veggies from their garden. The furnishing of the cabin is clean, comfortable and tasteful, truly lovingly cared for. Not only would I recommend this property to anyone, but we hope to visit again in the near future.

Honeymoon Dream

Review submitted: May 25, 2014   Date of arrival: May 16, 2014

What a wonderful hidden gem! We spent hald our honeymoon here and couldnt have asked for a more serene place. Be prepared for a long drive to Sequoia Park , but Blach park is right up the road and worth the day trip too. The falls behind the cabin are amazing and you feel like you are in your own little world not burdened by outside worries. The wildlife at night is cool too, we saw racoons and a bobcat! Not to mention the roaming cows that love to stare. If you are looking for a mountain getaway, but close enough to town, this is the spot for you! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

An enchanting getaway

Review submitted: April 24, 2014   Date of arrival: April 20, 2014

Waterfall Cabin is a magical and idyllic place. Sitting on the deck listening to the waterfall and enjoying the marvelous views, we completely relaxed. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and the nearby hiking was amazing, and amazingly uncrowded. We appreciated the owners having taken the time to describe the cabin and the surrounding Sequoia National Forest accurately and in detail. We also appreciated their efforts to ensure guests enjoy their stay, with loads of information and alternatives depending on weather and guests' interests. We'll be back!
