about Beach Haven Terrace

Beach Haven Terrace, NJ Accomodation Guide

Atlantic City may be the most well-known entertainment area in New Jersey, yet for visitors who pine for the attractions of eras past, Long Beach Island provides great options for beach houses to rent. Quiet beaches, classic amusement parks and even small fishing villas ensure all of the seaside joy you can think of, all within the shadow of its iconic lighthouse.  Beach Haven Terrace is part of the Beach Haven borough on Long Beach Island. The entire borough is has a full-time population of about 1,200, yet this number can rise quite quickly during the popular summer months.

Top Attractions

  • View the ocean from a seagull-like perspective at the Barnegate Lighthouse State Park. Located on the tip of Long Beach Island, the lighthouse was built back in 1859 and continues to welcome guests to its tip top every summer. Come for a visit anytime between 10 am and 4:30 pm to snap of a few pictures of Island Beach, Barnegat Bay and most of Long Beach itself. If you come during the fall, you can head to the park's interpretive center to look at how industry and a changing coastline have helped develop and shape the lighthouse for more than 150 years. Examine a variety of captures from local shipwrecks found here.
  • Fresh fish and an old maritime village vibe both run rampant at the Viking Village, one of the East Coast's largest fresh fish suppliers. Originally created back in the 1920s, the stretch of quaint streets and small retailers include things like sea captain-aimed clothing stores, coffee shops, antique stores and, of course, plenty of opportunities to pick up fresh scallops, swordfish mahi and tilefish.
  • New Jersey's coastline wouldn't quite be the same without classic carnival games, and Fantasy Island on Long Beach provides all of your favorites. Test out your skills at a variety of crane games, steal a smooch on a Ferris wheel or pick out your favorite horse on the early 1900s carousel.

Downtown Beach Haven

  • BayView Park, also known as 68th Street, is well known among locals as one of the best places to enjoy the surf. Families and groups of all ages can come to the area, as lifeguards patrol the local beaches during the summer from 10 am to 5 pm every day. The beach also includes a child-friendly section as well as a playground and basketball court.
  • To complement your classic getaway on LBI (as the locals call it), head to Tucker's Restaurant, a fine-dining eatery that's completely worth the splurge. Unlike some of the other area dining options, Tucker's is open year-round, and its staff are more than happy to serve up some perfectly prepared clams on the half shell or their famous macaroni and cheese.
