It’s a bit steampunk, it’s a bit Hogwarts Express, it’s all fun. In a little lane in sleepy Forrest is a complete old timber country train carriage converted into a snug accommodation. Being a carriage, everything is small, the one real drawback being no storage space. Being only 3 of us though, we used the third bedroom as a walk-in robe. It’s great for a family of 3 or 4 but you would have to be very close friends to have 4 or 6 adults! Other than that, it’s a wonderful spot. A high quality little kitchen, great shower, comfy beds, a leafy garden with BBQ and eclectic fittings make for a unique escape. Plus the new chocolaterie Platypi just up the road which you shouldn’t miss. A highly recommended stay.

  • New Years at Lorne

L'Vista was a great place to stay in Lorne during the busy New Year period. It had a great view of the sea around Lorne, and was also close to the bush - with plenty of wildlife visiting in the morning and evenings (kangaroos, sulfur-crested white cockatoos, crimson rosellas, kookaburras, magpies) We enjoyed watching the New Years fireworks from the balcony. The house is very well configured with separate living spaces upstairs and downstairs, and had everything needed. Everything was immaculate. The house was a short drive to the beach, but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet to escape the Lorne summertime crowds at the end of the day.
