Our stay at Campbell's Creek was exactly what we needed. We were after privacy, peace and quiet and this was all part of our stay! The gorgeous location just outside Castlemaine is perfect, with a very picturesque natural environment surrounding it. The house is open planned, so there is lots of space and high ceilings, and the amenities cater to all domestic needs. If wanting a break from cooking, the township is 5 minutes away, with lots of choice for meals. The property itself is clean, well maintained and very child friendly. The hotwater was excellent, and it was great to have a change table and highchair available to use. Our baby boy got lots of time to cruise around safely, no low sharp edges anywhere for a pre-walker to hit his head! The safety gate on the stairs and the toy box were God send. As was the awesome air-con during that hot weekend! I received prompt, friendly customer service throughout the entire process - booking to checkout - as well as helpful follow up afterwards. Many thanks to you, Laura! Such a delightful and enjoyable experience, I would definitely recommend this property to family and friends, children or couples, specially the time poor and those just needing to "get away from it all"! The property is a short drive from Melbourne and there's LOTS of space, peace and quiet! Castlemaine has some fantastic antique and brick a brac shops, as well as farmers and artist markets to while away your Sunday too.

  • Meticulously handcrafted - a hidden gem

Trudy and Robert have painstakingly handcrafted an absolute treasure box of a cottage. Mud bricks, superbly finished timberwork, beautiful European sensibility with gorgeous appointments of the highest quality - and everything you could possibly need for a luxurious and peaceful stay. Set in wonderful landscaped grounds with private lake/small dam and backing on to bush it is amazingly quiet and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed Trudy's homemade strudel with cream, and a tour of her extensive vegie patch and potager. Trudy was so easy to communicate with, and very generous in every way. We came down from Wagga for the Lost Trades Fair, and hope to be back next year. As owners of our own 4.5star cottages, we can see the enormous effort, care and skill that has gone into The Keep. It is an absolute credit to them. Thank you for such a fabulous stay, Trudy and Robert.
