  • Malua Bay - we'd return
    5 of 5

My wife Bridget and I may have been the owners’ first Canadian guests. On our arrival tour we asked host Nikki: “is all this space ours?” It really is a spacious 2 bedroom home (vs an apartment) with fresh, good-sized rooms and a well-equipped kitchen. The view of the Bay draws all sorts of your time. Beach and a couple of shops (butcher, general food and drink) are a quick walk away (with a short, steep bit on the quiet road). Mike & Nikki were very good to us. Prior to getting there, Nikki made a special effort to reach us while travelling, aiming to ease our way. She knew we planned to arrive from the south where the 19/03/2018 Tathra brushfire had interrupted travel. Midway through our stay when rainclouds drifted in, they were there with helpful suggestions which turned grey-time into pleasant time. We’d like to return.

Our families have stayed here quite a few times now as it is in a neat little pocket of Maloney's Beach, an easy "bags down, fridge packed, off to the beach" type home and on Mr Whippy's mid afternoon route. Sleeps 10 comfortably, easy off street parking, plentiful tame Kangaroo's, huge backyard with reserve for backyard cricket (hockey in our case), fabulous deck with plenty of seating and possibly the cleanest bathroom on the South Coast. While the kitchen is equipped with everything from a huge fridge, to baking a cake to the all essential cheese platter the only negative here is pantry space for your cheese crackers, cereals, bottle water etc. There is a fully equipped kids room with tv etc, my only constructive criticism is I would make the kids room and double bedroom and move the kids stuff upstairs. I am looking to book in future via stayz or air b&b as key pick up in Batemans Bay is a pain during peak times (Easter Monday key drop off took us an hour due to traffic) Definitely a home where you can rock up with everything and don't need to go near Batemans Bay itself.
