This was a fine place to stay. Well equipped, even a dishwasher. Plenty of fresh North sea air (you’re only 1 block from the sea) blowing through multiple windows. Plenty of space for up to 4. Grocery store in the same building down on the 1st floor. 4 blocks from tram stop. Walking distance to train station.
Ostend is a little off the beaten track for most American travelers, but is a convenient and affordable locale in easy reach of Brugge (about 30 minutes by car), for those who wish to visit. It is a family vacation spot for locals and the beaches are wide and very clean.
The apartment was perfect for our family of six. It was large, nicely laid out with three nice bedrooms, a large living area and kitchen. A shower and also a tub were available. It was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, with comfortable beds. There is free parking available nearby and public transportation is close as well. Piet met us immediately upon arrival, showed us everything we needed to know about in the apartment, in addition to where to park and the local bakery. Bed linens and towels were extra, but this is spelled out in the rental agreement. Payment in cash for them upon arrival is expected.
There are some nice restaurants - we chose Strandhuis for our evening there. The seafood was all very fresh and beautifully prepared. There is a full grocery store about a kilometer from the apartment, so we were able to get our basics for breakfast. Should you need to do laundry, a small laundromat is also nearby.
We'd recommend taking a trip down the road a few minutes to Raversyde - a local history park. It has a reconstructed 15th century fishing village and WWI and II Atlantikwall - bunkers, gun emplacements, etc. It is an unexpected find for us and very well done. Great audio guides for both exhibits.
