  • Great villa, good location, lovely pool
    4 of 5

Had a lovely stay at this villa and enjoyed Tenerife. Villa is spacious and pretty well decorated although could do with a bit of updating, as a bit of wear and tear is showing. The pool is really big and completely private and the kids loved it despite not being heated. Candelaria is a nice little town, no more, no less, some of the reviews I’ve seen have been very over the top and make it into something it’s not! There are a limited number of nice restaurants and very, very few bars. It’s very local and Spanish which is great but it’s not a quaint little town as it has been described by others. The only real drawback is the walk into town from the villa is a very steep downhill walk, it’s not far at all but almost impossible to walk back unless you are a mountain climber! Taxis are really cheap but with a buggy it was a bit of a nightmare at times to be honest. In summary, this is a great villa run by lovely people in a very quiet, secluded location. The town is average and the walk is not ideal.

  • Fantastic family holiday

An idyllic and calm place to stay, this house is nicely furnished and well kept. It has a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, hot showers, and a great view (and sound) of the sea. The hamlet is nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the southern part of the island, but at only five minutes from the main TF1 motorway, there is no problem getting around. Some of the other properties we researched are an hour of winding roads to reach them, so this really is so excellent for many reasons. It is also just five minutes car journey from a supermarket, so when we arrived late on Saturday we could still fill the cupboards on the Sunday morning. It is worth mentioning that there is no vehicle access to this property - there are some 55 steps to descend to get there - so would not be suitable for everyone. We were not disappointed by this, and it added to the character of both the property and the hamlet - but if you struggle with steps (carrying suitcases, shopping, a baby perhaps) then please ask the friendly owner for more details. The advert also makes no mention of the incredibly fast Internet connection! There is a 50meg cable wifi router all included, great for researching the island, but for those needing to keep in touch with family or work whilst away this is also ideal... Nicolas, you need to add that to your advert!! The host reacted immediately when we had a leak with the water tank, and the problem was fixed fast. Our only recommendation for the host is that the lovely soft blankets are great as covers for the beds, but are not ideal for sleeping with. Perfectly warm enough, but we have to wonder how easy they are to wash between guests. They are also very slippy - so we were constantly waking to fight to get the blankets back in the right place. (and the pillows are at the end of their life - had to buy them some more!!) We were very pleased to find that towels were supplied as well, could have saved a few kilos in our bags if we had known beforehand!! There were many other nice little touches too - a cool box with a freezer full of ice blocks, beach toys for the kids, outdoor furniture for the roof terrace, drying rack for washing, and pleasant friendly neighbours. We are not in the habit of returning to the same holiday destination, but if we ever come back to Tenerife, we will come back to this house for so many reasons. Trust me, stop searching and book here!
