This Labor Day weekend my three kids and their significant others stayed at Camp Ruby. It is a fantastic place in a beautiful situation. We felt at home right away. Our bed was comfortable (we were in the master) and showers hot! There were plenty of extra towels in the dresser. One of my SIL's didn't sleep well because he was hot. He likes to sleep at 63 degrees and their room didn't get that cool. There is no AC, so in a heat wave, that could be an issue. The owners were excellent with the communication I needed to plan where everyone was going to sleep...It was three married couples and two singles. The married couples all had bedrooms, and one single was on the sofa and the other was on a futon which is separated, but open to a hallway. So, the singles each had their privacy, too. We hiked one day at a nearby trail up to Indian Creek Trail, and another day we went to Great Sand Dunes National Park. We used the kitchen for all our meals and found it had everything we needed. There were even ziplocks, foil, and seasonings. At night we played games after dinner. There were problems with the hot tub featured in the home page photo and it was not open for use. Also due to the fires/burn ban we couldn't use the fireplaces. I'll say we didn't miss them. We made smores in the oven and that actually worked great. A lot of thought and effort has gone into putting this place together, making it personal, comfortable, and homey place, and I felt privileged to get to enjoy the fruit of all that labor. I would love to go back. I'd like to have had a day just hanging around the cabin all day. Thanks so much.
