We stayed for 2 weeks and had many visitors. The house is well able to accomodate a group comfortably, is really well designed with great and modern comforts. Owners really helpfull and gave great hints about places to visit and how to get around the island. Fabulous weather, great beaches within walking distance. A real retreat-highly recommended

  • A lovely quiet location with great access to trails

The Braden house is a small end unit on the very edge of the hamlet of Kerdonis. The windows look over fields and hills, out to the ocean. One first level bedroom and one and a half upper level bedrooms offer good sleeping options, along with the bathroom, kitchen and living room areas downstairs. Outside is a sitting picnic patio and a short walk to one of many trails granting access to the coastal trail which runs the edge of the entire island. There is a lighthouse not far away, but the light is red and does not shine into the bedrooms! It can only be seen from one spot in the kitchen, adding to the scenery. The entire experience at the house was positive. On the ferry ride over, we watched dolphins play in the boat wake. Every morning, pheasants and rabbits chased each other around the field. We walked every day, twice to the nearby town of Loc Maria to pick up groceries and croissants. Birds and lizards abounded and the views of the cliffs were amazing. Sandy beaches dot the island, offering a chance to swim or relax by the water. But without a doubt, the largest perk of this property was the owner. With our very limited French, my wife and I were on an adventure, and Martine helped us emmensly. She walked us through the process of renting a property in France, connected us with taxis from the port in the town of La Pailis, and was simply lovely to deal with. A warm welcome is normal when renting a property, but Martine was beyond amazing. We cannot thank her enough for her help in making our visit to France possible. Note: if you are an American renting in France for the first time, be aware that the process is different than in the US! For example, you'll need to buy your own renter's insurance for the week - it can be found online and is not expensive, ours was 12€, but it is your responsibility and not the owner's. Be aware of what is included in the rental agreement, which differs from house to house; there way be separate fee for linens, electricity, internet, etc.
