  • Beautiful apartment, ideally situated
    5 of 5

We had a very pleasant stay in Laurent's peaceful and stylish apartment. It's very comfortable and clean, and very well equipped. The apartment is ideally located within the centre of Bordeaux, it is on a quiet street on the edge of the city's shopping district, within easy reach of the city centre's many bars, restaurants and markets, and it's a short and pleasant walk to the river. Laurent and his agent are very welcoming and helpful and will do their best to ensure you enjoy your stay to the maximum.

  • Clean, attractively decorated, well-situated, wheelchair-friendly, completely stocked flat
    5 of 5

I needed a flat for 5 people, one in a wheelchair, for Christmas -- when we always make a big Christmas dinner. This flat was the only one on any list which fit all my needs. More than that, it was better than my family and I anticipated. Part of our enthusiasm is because Leila (Marguerite's daughter who runs the property) provided all sorts of information. She met us at the flat and left us cannelés. I phoned her when I had a question. She phoned to make sure we were having a good time. We wish to return. Accessibility -- Not made to be an accessible space. However, entrance at street is completely flat and a key fob is easy to use for the doors. Also, someone in the flat can see and let in a visitor. There is a lift and a wheelchair can roll into every room. No transfer bars by toilet or shower. With help, someone could use the built-in shower chair. A wheelchair could possibly roll onto one of the balconies (there are two). The flat has one room with a toilet, one room with two sinks and a bath/shower, and one room with one sink and a shower. Kitchen -- 3-burner, glass-top electric stove. All appliances work well; a large drying rack for clothes. Recycling bags. Sugar, flour, oil, vinegar, milk, coffee, tea, cleaners -- some of everything was stocked. Leila left us a rolling shopping bag which was great. We made scallops, squid, lamb shoulder, ragu, and side dishes for Christmas. Decorations and directions -- Leila has beautiful blooming plants that thrive on the balconies. She added holiday decorations that we enjoyed (this was our 1st Christmas away from home). Also, one shelf is dedicated to current travel bureau brochures and printouts of Invisible Bordeaux walks. She clearly focused on leaving us information in English. Situation -- One block from the Cathedral. Excellent restaurants and museums within 5 minutes walk. Most of UNESCO section of city within 10 minutes walk. Tram is frequent and very wheelchair accessible. Transfers are easy, making the distance to the Cité du Vin nothing to worry about. Also, although the view out the back balcony is of a large park, underneath it is a shopping mall which includes a Monoprix grocery store that's open 9 AM to 9 PM. None of us had visited Bordeaux before, and now we want to return and explore the city further. My husband felt that the huge, brilliantly lit Christmas tree near the Cathedral was his for 2018.
