  • Exquisite Stay in 16th Century Apartment
    5 of 5

We could not have asked for more perfect accommodations while I was researching my 17th century novel. We loved that we were in the heart of Poitiers, so close to many attractions, grocery stores, restaurants, shops, tourism office, park, and the cinema. We loved walking down random streets, marveling at the historic architecture in this gorgeous city. Also, it is only. a 10 minute walk to the train station! As well, we appreciated the spacious kitchen and facilities; and since we were there for 2 weeks, we enjoyed some home-cooked meals. There is a washer/dryer combo too, so we could easily do laundry. This home is well-equipped with everything one could want, including lots of towels and linens. We did find the mattress to be more firm than we are used too, but we got used to it over the two week period. It is up one flight of a spectacular curving staircase. It looks just like the photos! There are many large windows, which provide ample daylight. We loved too that the apartment is very private inside due to the location of the windows. Communication with the owner was excellent, and during one cold spell, the owner's father brought us over a space heater to use because the communal heating doesn't begin until mid-October. Because this apartment is in a university town, and in the heart of the city, we did notice that Thursday nights could get noisy with the students, but no problem we used earplugs. The other evenings were quiet! We really loved the ambiance and spectacular setting of this apartment. It was such a treat to be able to stay here, and we would return if we stay in Poitiers again. Thank you for sharing your wonderful apartment! We loved it.

  • A Beautiful Spot in a Charming City

We had a great time discovering Poitiers. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped, though I have never seen a refrigerator without a freezer. Cathy was the perfect hostess, answering questions before and during our stay. We used GPS to find the place — a must — but were able to offload luggage and easily find the clean public parking ramp a five-minute walk away. It all worked well. Poitiers is a beautiful city, with a large pedestrian zone in the old city, Plenty of shopping, good restaurants, Romanesque churches and a fun Marche on Saturday morning. Worth a return visit. Thank you, Cathy. Meredith & Dick
