  • Amazing and wonderful place. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

We could not have had a more fabulous holiday at Domaine Languedoc. Daniel and Evelyn, the owners were wonderful hosts and were so very helpful from the moment we arrived. The apartment was large and very nicely appointed. The furniture and beds were all very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The pool was a nice treat and Daniel kept the temperature very comfortable after some cool evenings. The thing that impressed us the most was the personal attention given by our hosts. We were given all the information we needed to be able to travel the region and visit so many beautiful and historic sites. Daniel even downloaded and printed specific hiking trails so we could take advantage of the beautiful scenery and vineyards, which were everywhere. We were also provided with business cards for all of the best restaurants in the area. To summarize, whatever we needed, Daniel and Evelyn went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. I cannot give them a higher recommendation. 5* is not high enough as this was one of the finest vacations in memory. The Herault is a magical place, with area around Saint-Chinian being our base. You could not ask for a finer place stay than Domaine Languedoc. We will return again for a longer visit. Merci Daniel and Evelyn. Theodore and Deborah Meyer Toronto, Ontario and Charleston, SC

  • A true French experience in St Chinian
    5 of 5

Situated in the Languedoc/Hérault region of southern France, St Chinian is a delightful small village with a truly authentic local atmosphere. It is surrounded by hills and mountains with vineyards as far as the eye can see which produce some of France's finest wines. St Chinian is the center of the wine cooperative which includes local vineyard farms from 20 towns. In fact, the wine tasting salon is located next door to this apartment! Also in the town are several bakeries, butcher shops and two super markets. From the window of the apartment one can view the large town square where open food and flea markets are held on Thursday's and Sunday's. There are also several restaurants and bars/cafes but we were there off season so not all were open. We did enjoy The Villages restaurant and would recommend it for their food and service. The area also offers abundant opportunity for hiking and bicycling at every level of expertise. The tourist information office was very helpful with maps and guidance to local attractions. There are several very interesting towns and villages, historical as well as scenic, within short drives from St Chinian. The apartment owners, Fredérique and Graham, were very gracious hosts. The apartment is spacious, clean and unique in rustic style. The private rooftop terrace provided spectacular views and a great location for sunning. The apartment was equipped with basic amenities. More cookware and utensils in the kitchen would be helpful for taking advantage of the market offerings and cooking in. We do recommend this property and would return for another visit, with any luck perhaps a longer stay.
