  • Perfectly charming, relaxing base from which to enjoy the area

We spent 3 nights here on a whim. Could not have been a better experience thanks not only to the pristine, tasteful and well appointed apartment, but most especially to our host's extremely kind treatment. Roland and his wife went far beyond our expectations to make our stay memorable and very special. It was, and will remain one of the most precious parts of our travels. This is due to the care and kindness of our hosts, who now feel like friends. You will not be disappointed! We are probably coming back to the area directly because of the welcome and enthusiasm shown us by R & V. Their knowledge and willingness to share it made this region come alive in ways not possible without them. Accommodations were extremely comfortable to stay in and cook, or walk into the village for supplies or restaurants.

  • Wonderful, authentic house in beautiful Saorge

We had a great stay! We felt like we were house-sitting for friends which means the gîte is very well equipped. Gorgeous terrasse with stunning views over the top of the village and the surrounding mountains. If you want to experience what it is like to live in a pedestrian only village perched on a steep hillside, this is it. The village is not just quaint, but a vital non-touristy community with very narrow streets and passageways throughout. Be prepared to walk, and pack accordingly since your luggage and provisions must be carried in. Ask the very kind hosts about the trail down to "Bendola Sauvage" for an extraordinary day on a river with wonderful clear pools of water and enormous boulders scattered about.
