Philippe is a very kind and welcoming host. He’s generous with his time and knowledge of Provence giving excellent recommendations on what to see in the area. The studio is small but very comfortable with all the amenities needed and an incredible outside courtyard space! I stayed six weeks and didn’t want to leave. I made friendships that will last a lifetime.
This was our home away from home for 9 days in late November while we were visiting our son at the École de l'air in Salon de Provence. The housekeeper Yvette met us, provided instructions to the home (glad my son was there to interpret as I do not speak French) and even popped in mid stay with homemade marmalade. The home was much more than we needed but we loved every bit of it. We cooked meals every night, ate in the magnificent dining room and had family time. We were unable to take advantage of the rooftop terrace due to the weather but I did sneak up there our first morning and enjoyed a cup of coffee. The home does have a spiral stone staircase - a bit daunting to my 78 year old mother but it was well lit and she managed ok. Parking was hit or miss in the city centre but there was public parking at the post office a short walk away. Pelissanne is a very quaint town - my daughter and I spent an afternoon walking around wishing we lived there. We visited a local olive oil mill (Moulin à Huile des Costes, 445 Chemin de Saint-Pierre, 13330 Pélissanne) and did a tasting. There is a fantastic market in town on Sunday mornings - we enjoyed bread from 2 different bakers (look for the long lines) and a vendor serving paella. The yellow vest protests impacted our travel, but we learned to take the back roads and came across several unexpected finds including the Abbaye de Montmajor. The home is the perfect location for side trips to Saint Remy (site de Glanum and Saint-Paul asylum where Vincent van Gogh spent 53 weeks), Aix en Provence (larger city, museums, etc - amazing restaurant Crêpes Cidre et Compagnie and the Fabrique and Musee du Callisson, Camp des Milles (WW2 interment camp - 40 Chemin de la Badesse, 13290 Aix-en-Provence), Arles (roman ruins), Pont du Gard (incredible Roman aqueduct), and Nimes (more roman ruins). Salon de Provence is a town approx 4km away - fun to walk around and has 2 soap factories - Marius Fabre and Rampal Latour. We have had nothing but good luck with VRBO - the owners were responsive to our emails and even offered assistance after we left (we lost our rental car keys and had to get in touch with local police). Great experience and I would go back in a heartbeat.
