  • Great hospitality and charming environment!

We stayed here for four nights to explore Carcassonne and environment. Montolieu is a charming artsy village with lovely bookshops and little streets. The place we rented was the first floor of the house with the owners living downstairs. They were extremely friendly people and really going the extra mile to make your stay most comfortable. The amenities in and outside of the house are plentiful: bowling alley, pool ( not heated though), outside kitchen .... certainly recommend this place to explore Montolieu and surroundings!

  • Beautiful place to just relax

The house is beautifully situated in a small village, which is itself well-situated for exploring the surrounding area. The kitchen is well-stocked with the basics for cooking, and the hosts have kindly gathered together a box of maps and brochures to help their guests plan their time away from the house. They also provide a comprehensive list of restaurants to visit in the area. The surrounding area is chock-full of interesting historical sites and fun villages to poke around in, but you definitely need a car in order to do that. Cuxac itself is not terribly lively, which didn't matter to us, but it might be a consideration for anyone thinking about wandering around the village shops--Cuxac isn't tourist-y at all. There are some basic shops and a restaurant, but it's otherwise blessedly quiet. The garden is as lovely as the photos, and if you're picturing yourself sitting in this lovely setting with a glass of wine in your hand just listening to the breeze and the birds, this is definitely the spot for you.
