  • Wonderful Stay!

My husband, daughter (10mths old), and I just returned from a perfect 11 day stay at the Mill. The Mill had everything we needed in order to be comfortable on our trip. My husband spent quite a bit of time fishing off the patio and I explored the property with our daughter (going for walks and looking at the farm animals). The property includes another Mill, Manor House, working Farm, and Château. Even though all, except the Château, were in use or rented during our stay, we had plenty of privacy. Anne, the owner, was very responsive when we had any questions. We used the Mill as a base while we explored the Loire Valley. I would highly recommend staying here if you are considering this place for your vacation. I also have a couple of tips- 1- Rent a car: at first we thought we could rent bikes to get around but I am so glad we rented a car. The property is “out of town.” and not close to a bus/train station. This was our first experience driving in Europe and the French country roads are fairly easy to navigate and there is not much traffic. 2- Monts is not a tourist destination, like Paris, and most people don’t speak any English. This wasn’t a big deal for us as we travel to France often but be prepared to bring some sort translation device. 3- Rent a phone from InsidrParis: Since the Mill didn’t have WiFi or a phone, we rented a phone from InsidrParis that we picked upon arrival at CDG. We used the phone as our navigation for the car, translator, and hotspot to call home. 4- Grocery shopping nearby: There is a SuperU in town but if you drive a little further there is a Carrefour which has more and better selection and BioCoop which has only organic items. All in all, it was a fantastic trip. We are looking forward to coming back soon.

  • An Awesome Vacation Spot

We have just returned from a 15 day stay at The Clos des Buis and it couldn't have gone any better. We were warmly greeted by Bruno and Valérie upon our arrival. Their kindness, warmth, and responsiveness to any need were a big part of what made our trip so enjoyable. The gÎte is conveniently located near many of the chateaux including Chenonceau and Villandry and a 20 minute drive to beautiful Amboise and Tours. Only three kilometers from the Cher River and Azay-sur-Cher, where we could drop in at the local patisserie or take long walks along the banks of the Cher River on a path dedicated to cyclists and pedestrians were highlights. The region offers so many fun opportunities to learn about history, canoe the rivers, or bike along their many bike paths. The region is beautiful, dotted with quaint villages, fields, and forests. The recently and tastefully remodeled farmhouse was very comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with anything that you might need to prepare a meal. One of the important issues for us when visiting France is always the size of the bed since my husband is 6'5". The master bedroom has a king sized bed and an excellent mattress. Each bedroom has shutters that close and the master bedroom also has blackout curtains. We slept better here than we sleep in our own home. I highly recommend a stay at this location. Valérie and Bruno are lovely people who are very good at making their guests feel welcome. Bruno and Valérie, thanks for a lovely stay. Patricia and Greg
