We were a family of 5, who spend 1 week in Merville. The house has all that one needs, only a few small imperfections (e.g. electric kettle not working), and has a wonderful ambiance. The garden is perfect for children, being completely secluded (you can even lock the gate to the street), so even small children can play safely by themselves. The house offers plenty of toys as well. The street is quiet and the house is perfectly situated 100 meters from the grocery store and 300 meters from the beach. Merville is a charming village with local restaurants, two bakeries, a butcher, beach shops and a pharmacy. It can boast a huge beach with plenty of space and clean water. At low tide you can walk several hundred meters out and catch crabs and shells (the kids love it). Make sure to get back in time, as the water rises fast and you can get stuck on a sandbank, if you do not pay attention. Merville is also a perfect starting point for trips to e.g. the D-day beaches and the Overlord museum. Merville also has the Merville Battery, a gun battery attacked by the British in the early morning hours of D-day. It is in walking distance from the house, and is recommended. Paul is a trustworthy person, who is easy to communicate with in English. All in all, both the house and Merville can certainly be recommended for a nice Normandy vacation.
