The property is a beautifully restored Medieval home attached to the back side of the Sarlat cathedral, fronting a quiet square. Most everything was wonderful for those who enjoy historic and unique properties.
Be advised that a few modern conveniences are not available such as easy navigation of the home (multiple winding stairs puts this home on nearly 4 1/2 levels) and lack of air conditioning (on our stay in July, the home was quite warm esp in the master bedroom which made for some difficulty sleeping).
That said, we settled into the quirks of the home and ended up loving it. The location is UNBEATABLE in the Medieval core of Sarlat and yet is quietly nestled off to the side of the main dining/tourist streets. The old stones and ceiling beam timbers are beautiful. The kitchen is fully functional, and the plumbing/bathrooms have good updates.
Overall we recommend this home and its owner.
We spent two nights at DS bread and breakfast a couple weeks ago. The owners came to meet us to give us the key and to give us all the necessary information. They were a delightful couple, very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The property is very clean, very complete. We truly have no negative feelings about this place or its owners. We have no reservation in recommending this bed and breakfasts.
