My husband and I stayed at this stone cottage in October. From the start, the owner gave us explicit directions to get to the cottage as it is in a tiny hamlet. We could send emails back and forth which was extremely helpful because the owner spoke little English and we speak little French. Google to the rescue. The house is small, but had everything we needed in the kitchen to make our meals when eating in. There was a problem with the water not draining out of the shower & toilet, but as soon as we notified the owner, he came to try and fix it. I believe eventually he might have had to get a plumber. But, we are seasoned travelers, so we made due and just enjoyed the covered stone porch that is attached. It served as our living/dining room because it has a big table and also lounge chairs. Since the cottage is small, when we were there we spent most of our time on the porch. My husband had some difficulty navigating the cottage because he is a very big man. We might not recommend it if someone is that size, but I am a regular size and I had no problem. The cottage has a great location for visiting the Pont d' Arc, the grotto Aven d' Oranac, the Chauvet cave, Gorges Ardeche, etc. We were able to walk from the cottage on a path that takes you to the Pont d' Arc, which was a great advantage, as sometimes the parking lot was full. The scenery in this area is breathtaking, especially the Gorges Ardeche. We drove on the road and stopped at all the viewing spots. Our highlight was when a herd of wild goats were lying down in the road & wouldn't move. We got some great pictures. All in all it was a very good experience. We never got to meet the owners, but if we had any questions or problems, they answered our emails immediately. As I said before, we travel a lot and just enjoy being in these special places, even if there are minor problems. So, if you are like us I believe you would love this special place. We enjoyed being just a short walk from the center of the village, offering shops, cafes and restaurants, and the Thursday street market. Was ideal for our bike ride along the Gorge, for visiting the wonderous and informative Grotte Chauvet, and walks in the countryside. A lovely and peaceful garden for relaxing after the day's adventures. The bastide was well-equipped and extremely quiet during our 5-day stay in early October.
