The house was clean and comfortable.Enjoyed the view from back porch and shelter on covered front porch. Saw different sights every day. Close to whatever we wanted to do. Every person we met treated you like you were special. A most pleasant stay.
It was a lovely cabin. The views were wonderful. We were truly able to "get away from it all". Two things I would comment on.
The first is probably my fault, as I am not the most technologically gifted individual in the world, even with my own stuff. But I struggled with the HVAC thermostat. The outside temps while we were there averaged mid-to-upper 60's in the day, mid 40's at night. My wife and I generally favor temps on the cool side. We tried turning the system off when we left for the day, and we also tried turning on the heat and setting the thermostat at 67 or 68 but whatever we tried to do it was always 72 when we returned, which was too warm. We tried turning on the cooling rather than the heat, with mixed results. No big deal, just a minor frustration -- again I may have been doing something incorrectly.
Secondly, regarding the lovely game room upstairs ….. My wife and I are BY NO MEANS pool pros. The only time we ever play is when we rent a vacation place that has a table. And this was, I admit, one of the amenities that led me to choose Higher Ground. But the table itself had a major problem. Rather than rebounding off the ends, the balls would hit either end of the table and NOT bounce, would just "splat". It's a minor thing to be sure, and we still played pool and had fun, even joked about, but I thought I would raise the issue.
Again, a very nice place. We had a great "long weekend". The weather was fabulous. The sunrises over the mountain were spectacular from Higher Ground.
