Villa Maria is wonderfully located with astonishing views of the mountains and the sea. The sunsets are truly mesmerizing. Great house with all necessary amenities. Very clean, beautifully decorated and a nice refreshing pool. The surrounding area is very quiet which was something we really appreciated. The town of Kamilari is idyllic. Great if you want to try truly local Cretan cuisine. Our host Alexandra runs the restaurant Loggia and we can highly recommend it. Villa Maria is ideally located with the beach of Kalimaki and the towns of Matala and Agia Galini all close by. In short, highly recommended place for discovering this part of Crete.

  • Cretan Style at it's best!

We stayed here for 8 nights just recently and it was awesome! The house is sparcely decorated, but it is comforable to base out of and explore the area. What makes this property a 5 star is the family! So warm and welcoming, the kids were able to see the farm, Mary & Michalis were ready to share and show you into their Cretan life. Also providing tips for the beaches and the area. They have a brand new AC unit which works really well in the living area. The beds are comfortable, but if there is no breeze coming from the back door or windows, the bedrooms get very warm. The linens were top notch and nicely pressed, the towels were nice and soft and they were very helpful if anything is needed. There are 2 grocery stores, with really nice people just around the corner in a 2 minute walk and the access to Faistos and Matala is perfect without all the tourist traffic. We walked down into the village and had a look at the impressive ethanology museum (only 3€ to get in for adults, kids under 18 free). It is worth a look. Great access to all the main beaches along the southern shore. We definitely will be going back!
