  • Great facilities, great view, welcoming hosts

We got a very warm welcome from Wayne and Jo, who even gave us some of their delicious coffee to try (we ended up buying some to take home). The place itself had everything we needed: a comfortable bed, good facilities and a wonderful view of sunset from the deck. The accomodation is set apart from the main house, so no problems with privacy. The place has a nice swimming pool, and a table tennis table and pool table. It is a bit of a drive from the beaches of Kona, but its seclusion is one of the reasons we chose it, and it is not too far from shops and local restaurants. Overall we had a lovely time, and we wished we had booked it for the whole of our trip.

  • Sweet Property, Great Folks!

I booked this rental because we are organic farmers and raise goats. I was curious to experience a more rural setting than condominiums, pools and traffic offers and I was very curious about what was locally grown. Surrounded by other farms and coffee plantations, this setting is private, quiet, comfortable and inviting. I wanted our experience to reflect our values at home and keep us from getting too home sick. This organic avacado farm had wonderful, fresh payayas, guavas, avacados and numerous other delights to eat. Many characters roamed the property too such as Ginger, the sole chicken and several sheep that Katy rescued from the Pahoa side of the island during the volcano eruption. My little friend Kip sat on the porch, waiting for a morning game we played and the other two Border Collies greeted us every day but they are all well-mannered dogs who will match the energy you wish to invest. We felt at home, away from our animals and farm. But, if farming is not your gig, you can come and go with ease, returning to your private Ohana at night and playing all day. The very rear of the property has some Balloon Milkweed that is an attractant for Monarch Butterflies. It was wonderful to experience them fluttering in the morning light. We also met who we lovingly named, Camilla. She was a Jackson Chameleon in one of the trees and she was very fierce and beautiful.(lol) Katy and Mike are warm and friendly folks who take pride in what they are building in Hawaii-a beautiful farm that helps to feed them and their community. The Ohana is open, very clean and inviting, with a full kitchen. We were very comfortable! It was our favorite experience on the Island. Close to Captain Cook, travel to Kona or South to the Black Beach is easy. If fishing is your game, you might think about a trip with Mike and Katy on their fishing vessel. We hope to visit again and recommend this property for anyone and everyone.
