  • Excellent Location and comfortable cottage
    5 of 5

We loved staying at the Garden House. Mary's place is very private and has breathtaking views! The house was fully equipped with EVERYTHING even bath products and a cooler, beach gear, Hawaii books..you name it! Even though we didn't need a lot of that it is great for people who do. We really liked the outdoor bathroom. Keep in mind the toilet is out there too, but it is private with teak walls and a roof. The whole cottage is gorgeous Teak wood and our favorite part was sleeping with the windows open so we could here the birds chirping and one night it rained and I slept like a baby. Listening and taking all of the nature in was lovely. We were only 25 min North of Hilo and about 40 minutes from Honekaa and 50 min-1 hour from Waimea. We were very close to the scenic loop, Akaka Falls and botanical gardens. Really the location wasn't bad at all. We will definitely be back. Enjoy your stay and thank you Mary!

  • Magical hideaway in one of the world's most beautiful destinations!
    5 of 5

Five stars really do not do this rental justice -- if I could give it 10 stars, I would! This little hideaway is beautifully appointed with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating stay on the Big Island. It's a world away from the resort experience, but Lokilani offers peace and tranquility not found at crowded hotels. Open and airy, this lovely refuge offers a calm and quiet atmosphere with gorgeous, sweeping views and a secluded feel. Visit the nearby farmer's markets in Waimea to sample the Big Island's local treats and cook in the cute kitchen before enjoying your meal on the outside deck under the endless blue sky. Drive just 15 minutes to spend the afternoon at Hapuna Beach and take in the vibrant colors of a Hawaiian sunset from the vantage point of one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Rinse off the salt and sand with a warm outdoor shower in a secret tropical garden and then soak your troubles away in the spectacular free-standing copper bathtub. Curl up in the soft, white bed and let the sounds of the cool evening breeze soothe you to sleep until the morning light peeking through the skylight wakes you again. Rinse and repeat! Matt and Rose are incredibly kind and gracious hosts, and they are clearly intent on ensuring that you get the most out of your stay with them. We are already planning our return trip in 2020 and can't wait to stay at Lokilani again!
