  • A lovely house in a village with some interesting restaurants and close to beaches

We enjoyed our time in this beautiful Villa. The conversion was done very well and retained elements of the wine making history (under the kitchen floor!). The pool was perfect for our four kids. In the morning could walk to a café and shops very easily and at night there were good pizzerias and of course Farmacia dei Sani for an upmarket night out. The 15 minute drive to sit outside and have a fantastic pizza Pizzeria Borgo Vecchio in Miggiano is well worth the trip. One of us is coeliac and gluten free was not a problem in most places. The Ionian beaches are long perfect sandy beaches that are great for whiling away a lazy day. The Adriatic side has large rock pools which are great for swimming, but few comfortable sitting options. Otranto and Lueca are well worth going to for dinner and an evening wander. Compared to Tuscany and the northern lakes, this part of Puglia has a low key vibe and is lovely for a family holiday. It helps if you have a few words of Italian.

The house is just as charming as portrayed on the website . Actually it’s a lot more than any pictures can portray. The house is in an abundance of space, olive trees, herb and vegetable garden all available to be utilized. The scent of lavender and rosemary was breathtaking .... The couple who met us at the house were kind and very knowledgeable of the region and always available, I rate them very highly. I wish my stay was longer and I could have shared the beautiful house with more friends and family. The only question mark is the location and address posted on the VRBO is website is NOT the address and location. Not even close! The house is not in Roca Vecchia it is in Sternatia. A good 30 mins drive inland away from the beaches . Very misleading as we wasted a couple of hours finding the place .... Once we did locate the house via several “international “ phone calls all was well. Sternatia is actually a charming village with an outstanding restaurant. Porta Antico is without doubt one of the finest in the region. Thank you Puglia ! Bellisimo .....
