This is a very special property. We spent 5 nights here last week, had a very large terrace with views of the Sea, and were within a short walk down to the nearby beach and swimming grotto (an exquisite spot). Our hosts, Raffaele and Francesca, allowed us to pick fresh lettuce, tomatoes, herbs, figs and other delights from their garden. They could not have been nicer or more accommodating! They pointed us in the right direction of where to go for wonderful meals and things to do and see in the area. The charming, non-touristic town of Castro is a 9 minute drive, and we loved it. The nearby grotto with beach is one of the most beautiful swimming spots I’ve seen in my life. The French family next door to us spent all day, every day there with their young kids. My husband and I are grandparents, yet we had no problem walking down the trail to the beach (it is a steep descent, however!). Our apartment was clean and lovely, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was all done beautifully in small tiles, and the shower was perfection. I loved the bidet, too. Europe is so civilized — I have no idea why bidets never caught on in the U.S.!! All in all, this was a wonderful spot, and I feel lucky that we found it.
We stayed four nights at this absolutely charming little farmhouse in Puglia. The cottage is set on its own and there is complete privacy. There is a lovely patio that looks out onto olive groves. It is so lovely to sit outside and enjoy the view. The cottage itself is wonderful. It is modern, tastefully decorated, and spotlessly clean (which is of upmost importance to me). The owners have thought of every convenience and it takes no time at all to feel at home in this charming villa. There is a town nearby (5 min drive?) Cutrofiano, which is convenient for groceries, etc; however, the owners graciously have fresh milk, pasta, and other bits to get you settled so you don't have the sense to arrive and then have to leave again to get supplies. The location, as far as I was concerned, was fabulous. And easy drive to either coast. The owners live nearby but we did not see them once, except upon arrival; however, they are available should we have needed anything. In all, I completely recommend this great little place and will definitely suggest it to my friends if/when they travel to this gorgeous region. Thank you Bill for providing such a wonderful place to stay in Puglia!!
