There is a small "Simply" supermarket across the street and a huge Carrefour supermarket (unbelievably great!) just a few blocks to the west. Possibly the best pizza in the world right next door (I kid you not - as good as the best of Napoli or Manhattan). Great restaurants, cafes, delis, and sweets are within a block. The 19 tram (what in U.S. we would call a trolley) stops just out the door and takes you straight to/from the Duomo. A super-quick walk to the Metro (M1 and M2) and to the Trenord station for Como and Stresa and Varese day-trips (and an express to MXP). As for the apartment, it is big and comfortable. The kitchen is great and everything works. The washing machine was a godsend (no dryer though). The bed is very firm (as others note) but good quality that gives just enough so there is no stress on your hips or shoulders. It may not be a full U.S. style king, but it is bigger than a queen. The noise from the trams might be bothersome with the windows open, but only in the living room, and it is a big, busy city. It is otherwise very quiet, especially in the master bedroom, and the walls and floor are very thick and sturdy with little or no noise from neighbors. We love Milano and loved our stay and would stay here again in a heartbeat. If the bed were a bit softer (maybe a pillow top effect with a thick-comfy mattress pad?), we'd sign up to live here forever!

The apartment was very clean and well laid out. Ground floor so no stairs. Very comfortable bed. Lots of maps and brochures. Conveniently located to train station and metro. Luca treats you like an old friend and responds quickly to any questions you might have. When I mentioned side trips he e-mailed me multiple sources for information on other cities in the region.
