My husband and I stayed at Casa Piccolo for a week and had a wonderful time! Our accommodations were first-rate and the perfect size for a couple: loft bedroom with a large upscale bathroom, combo dining/seating area and a well-equipped kitchen that provides you with all you need for your stay. The front wall of Casa Piccolo is a large expanse of windows and glass doors that let you take in the views and the lovely gardens. There is also an outside sitting area along with the use of additional outdoor areas beside the large villa next door, Casa Antonietto. My husband continually commented on the first-rate craftmanship and design of this beautiful Italian villa that has been rebuilt by the owner, Lisbeth Myrfeld. We also got to tour Casa Antonietto, and it is spectacular. This large villa is perfect for a group of people, as it has three bedrooms all with their own bathrooms on separate floors. The grounds around the villas are breathtaking and there are plenty of hiking trails through the fields, woods, etc., around the villas to work off all the great food and wine. The area is incredibly peaceful and quiet, and the views were exceptional. As wonderful as our charming Italian accommodations were, our trip truly exceeded our expectations because of Lisbeth. She was totally helpful without being intrusive and is just a lovely hostess. Lisbeth is an Italian transplant simply because she loves Italy and its food, and she has taken the time to make friends with many of the local artisans and restaurant owners who share her interests as she loves where she lives. She took us to a local dairy to see ricotta and parmesan being made and recommended a 100+ year old traditional Acetaia to visit for balsamic vinegar. We also went to two restaurants on her recommendation that we would never have found on our own, and they turned out to be the two best meals we had in Italy during our three-week travels through Bologna, Modena, Verona, Venice, and Stresa. We also took Lisbeth up on her offer to make us dinner on our first night there where she put out this incredible spread of local food for us to try so we could get the taste and feel for what we had to look forward to while visiting the region. My husband and I have commented to each other more than once that Lisbeth’s help during our stay made the difference between a good vacation and a fantastic one! We would have missed out on a lot without Lisbeth’s help. If you are going to the Emili
