  • Great stay on charming pond
    4 of 5

We had a great stay at Josh's house on the pond. The house is fantastically clean and well stocked (although bring your own nutcracker for the lobster :)). There is plenty of firewood for wonderful fire-making. The canoes are AWESOME and were excellent for our early-morning-risers. The drive to Acadia is not so bad (I actually found the drive from the house in Clifton to the main road in Elsworth to be scenic and highly enjoyable driving), and we made it to the park each day. Keyless entry and clear communication with Josh about check out made this trip worry-free. There were 5 of us at the house - one couple and three single friends. In case this helps with anyone's trip planning -- the house would be perfect for family, but felt a bit less comfortable for friend groups. The upstairs en suite bedroom doesn't have a door/separation to the living room. The living room couch is a standard pull-out (not supremely comfortable to sleep in) . The downstairs bunk bed room has no windows or air circulation, which may be concerning to some. There are two full baths (one with bath/shower combo, one with shower cabin only) and one half bath (off the living room/kitchen) in the house. There were only four dining room chairs, which was a shame, as there are no other chairs in the house - only bar stools or recliners. Overall, we had a great time, and would happily book with Josh again!

  • Perfect home away from home!
    5 of 5

Joe and Ellen were excellent hosts! Both met us there to go over all that the home had to offer! Thank you Ellen, for the easy map to get to areas we wanted to explore, like Bar Harbor and Bangor. Not too long of a travel, nor hard to find either. Great shopping and restraunts. The lobster roll and burger at The Eagles Nest were great. You were not kidding on having to start eating the lobster roll with a fork, so much! This beautiful lakefront home has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing getaway. And, we heard the loons! Such beauty as the colors changed daily. Chemo Lake is a big mirror to all the surounding background. Sunsets, sunrises, peace and quiet were what we really looked forward to. We were not disappointed. The whole surrounding area is quite quaint with very friendly locals. We would not hesitate to recommend your lakefront to friends and family. We hope to return again next year ourselves. Thank you for your kind and friendly warm welcome and the gift you dropped by with!
