  • Wonderful Cottage
    4 of 5

We have stayed at Many properties through home away, vbro, rental properties and this 1 by far was the best. Kathy goes put of her way to make sure that if you left something home you could pretty much bet she has it at the cottage for you to use. When she says she provides coffee, tea, foil, etc. It is there and not just for a day or 2. All she ask is if you use it up, replace it for the next guest. The only reason we did not give it 5 stars is . ... ....The description of where the cottage is located a and the chairs to watch the fisherman pull the lobster traps along with the little beach right there isn't right waterfront. You have a right away you have to walk down to water, beach isn't really a beach , it's a area where stuff washes up . So it is I guess left to interpretation. Not anywhere to really walk around if you like exploring without getting in the car and driving to Popham beach or into Bath. Which is something the 4 of us like to do.. But we still loved her cottage and what itself offered. We also went in early Oct. Which everything was closed within walking distance. If going during summertime you could walk to a few restaurants. Overall a great time and place. Should we come back to the area we would defiantly stay here again..

  • What a magical week!
    5 of 5

Our family (4 children under 5, 6 thirty-somethings, and 2 grandparents) just got home from our incredible week at Carla's house. We cannot thank her enough for her hospitality and sharing her beautiful house with us. The love she has for her place, the community, and her state is evident. The location of the house is remote that you feel like you have the whole beautiful cove to yourself, yet you are minutes away from all you could need), including many places to eat-in or take out from, with some of the best lobster rolls we have ever had. We spent a day on a sailboat, went blueberry picking, enjoyed the sweet towns in the area, and flew kites on the beach. The setting of the house is just perfect. There is a short stroll down to the waterfront or a beautiful, well-maintained trail right from the front yard that both someone with bad knees and a third-trimester pregnant lady could do. The gardens were just beautiful We enjoyed a beautiful outdoor fire-pit complete with s'mores as well as a softball game with the kiddos in the front yard. There were mosquitos (nothing some bug spray couldn't take care of), but we never saw a single tick. Even though the environs and setting were perfect, staying inside Carla's beautiful house was a treat too! You have an incredible view of the water from the kitchen for wonderful family breakfasts and dinners. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked and labeled and big enough for all of us to create magical meals together. Our favorite spot, though, was next to the kitchen in the sunroom. Plenty of comfy places to sit (including an indoor porch swing) and read or just curl up for a cup of tea. There are other amazing living room areas too that each have their own character, filled with beautiful art and antiques. There is even a huge basement, so I heard, but I just realized that we had so much fun on the first two floors, I never even went downstairs! The bedrooms are each unique and comfortable with huge windows that gave our family lots of options (although 3 of the rooms had no blinds). There was an adorable kids' room complete with a small playroom that was just perfect. Although there is no air-conditioning, we were very comfortable as the house was also incredibly airy with plenty of fans. We were so sad to have to leave such a magical spot that is perfect for a group of friends or family coming together to enjoy each others' company and all of the beauty the area has to offer! Thank you, Carla!
