  • Perfect place for a small family vacation.

We had a very nice long weekend stay with our two young kids. The house is well appointed and we had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The fact that linens are included was very nice. It was a weekend of ice and freezing rain and the driveway is quite steep. We were warned about this by the owner and it wasn’t a problem as it was plowed and sanded on a timely basis. There are nice views of the lake, but it is not easily accessible. The four of us were comfortable with the space. We actually spent more time in the house than anticipated as the weather made skiing rather miserable. There was a bedroom we didn’t use, but the living space is rather small and I feel it would be too cramped with another family. The owner was very responsive to our questions. It was a very nice stay and we very well may return.

  • Spacious, Well-maintained House with Wonderful Mountain Views in a Great Location

Our 3 family group really enjoyed our ski vacation at this house. It has airy, bright common areas (great room and dining room), with enough bedrooms for privacy. The kids enjoyed all being together in the basement bunk room. All the beds were comfortable. Note that the master bedroom is much bigger than the other 2 bedrooms, so plan ahead who gets what. We loved the high ceilings, huge windows, exposed wood, and decorations of old sports equipment (especially the old skis over the stairs). There is a balcony above the great room with the perfect chair to enjoy the sunrise and views. The deck looked nice too, although we had too much snow to use it. The house is in a large fenced lot in a secluded spot, but is 5 minutes from 1-87 and 5 minutes from the restaurants and shops of Chestertown. Skiing at Gore was 20 minutes away; snowmobile tours on Loon Lake were 5 minutes away. The house comes with towels, linens, a fully-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer (w/ detergent), and a extra freezer in the garage. The owners are very helpful and responsive. They have included many thoughtful touches to improve your stay: ping-pong and foosball in the game room, many good board games, books, video games and movies for the kids, smart TVs w/ Amazon & Netflix, maps and brochures of local attractions, even the local grocery discount card. It would also make a good summer or fall vacation rental, since it's close to many lakes and the Adirondack Extreme climbing park in Bolton Landing. In the summer, the deck, outdoor fire pit, barbecue, basketball hoop and large fenced lot would be great. We'll be back.
