We arrived after an easy drive through beautiful country. First impression was charming rustic cabin. It’s modest in size but flows very well. From the welcoming front porch to the living, dining, kitchen and two bedrooms and baths, everything was packed with function yet very relaxing. It is furnished and appointed with eclectic pieces that work for the rural setting. It is unique, not cookie cutter. Very comfortable to gather in the living room, not dominated by an oversized TV. The kitchen has a generous pantry and a great gas stove. We found everything we needed and appreciated it’s logical set up - not once did we have to search for anything we needed. The towels in particular were a delight, larger and softer than at home! The stars out at night made the hot tub magical. Our dog enjoyed chasing his ball on the hardwood floors. We will return. Alan deserves a shout out. He greeted us, gave us a short tour, and made us immediately feel welcome. We appreciated not dealing with property management intermediaries - I’m sure, if we had any issues (none!), he would be very responsive. As it was, we spent 3 nights and were on the go and didn’t get much chance to get to know him. We found the drive to Crater Lake a very manageable 1 hour to the entrance. Took about 1/2 hour to see first lake views on a spectacular Rim Drive. We chose to drive counter clockwise and stopped at a picnic bench half way round for gorgeous view lunch we’d packed. Everywhere in all directions were photo ops. We found Shady Cove fit our grocery, pizza, ice cream, and diner (check out Mac’s overlooking Rogue River) needs. It’s under an hour to Medford with many more services. On our last day we headed to Ashland for Sunday breakfast at Morning Glory. There’s something for everyone accessible from this Trail location. A few notes, the gravel driveway is a bit steep with a sharp turn at the top, challenging our long wheel base front wheel drive SUV. It is fine but wouldn’t do it in a vehicle with low ground clearance. We need to return earlier in the season to see the creek running high. Our dog was limited to the gravel driveway after he picked up lots of burrs, to be expected in dry season. We didn’t try the fire pit but it looks inviting. The two bedrooms are back to back so don’t expect too much privacy. We loved the generous bathrooms. You are right on the road but the traffic was light. We were two couples and never felt cramped. It was ideal for us. Thank you!
