  • Roomy, confortable house perfect for family

My husband, his brother, me and my two young children spent the week of New Year’s at The Red House. Viveca and the team were fabulous from guiding us around and orienting us to the house upon our arrival to quickly answering all of our questions during our stay and making check-out a breeze. The kitchen is better outfitted than any I’ve seen at a vacation rental property and the spaces around the house encourage both family togetherness (we played many games in front of the fire on the low table) and quiet time (my brother in law enjoyed reading on the sofa upstairs). Location was great for day trips to Segovia and Avila. The local town has a lovely grocery, supermarket, and assorted bakeries and cafés. Be warned that many of the roads in and out of the area are through hilly, mountainous terrain, so if twists and turns aren’t your thing, keep that in mind—the locals easily passed by us and no one was discourteous, but a few of the tighter turns were nerve wracking and we tried to avoid driving at night. The train station is very close and easy to get to, although we didn’t use it to get into Madrid, but that could be a way to avoid driving for those who want to. The neighborhood is essentially a gated subdivision and the houses are set far apart from one another providing privacy and quiet. We really felt like we had our own little estate. All of the information that Viveca provided about local shopping and dining was spot on and we had no issues finding food, etc. Of course, opening hours vary especially during holidays, so it is always best to check. Overall, a great property and highly recommended.

  • The photos don't do the apartment justice

We stayed a month at Miguel's apartment until a week following Semena Santa. The place was immaculate. His parents graciously showed us the house and how things worked. They really took their time explaining any questions that one might have. From how to work the shower to the hot water to dishwashing and laundry detergent and much more. Btw, having a home supplied with all sorts of detergents and toilet paper etc is quite rare in rental homes by my experience. I think Miguel's mother is quite a masterful housekeeper in that respect. The place left us wanting for very little. They even had bread, milk, jam, butter, as well as a bag of muffins to fill up on before we did any grocery shopping. All sorts of condiments, salt, sugar, coffee, oils were also available. Again, this is very rare and we got to save a lot of money thanks to this. The furnishing is much much nicer than shown in the photos. Very nice wooden handcrafted furniture. Not cheap IKEA stuff. Parking is easy around the neighborhood, although we didn't even try near the walls or inside them. Mind you, at the moment, this apartment does not have wifi. Fine with me, but some people (like my husband) might need it. We were here with a 19 month old. She loved exploring all the rooms, which was great to have doors for all of them. We could close off wherever we weren't using and keep an eye on the baby. Oh, central heating was a godsend. I've learned since then that central heating is rare in Spain. We had a great stay. Thank you so much to Miguel and your family! I would go back in a heartbeat.
