In a beautifully renovated home, owner Bea makes your stay in Chur feel like a second home. The home provides guests with a meticulously decorated and clean room on the ground floor less than a km. from the train station and the heart of Chur. There is a fully-appointed kitchen that is modern and is a great way to cut back on meals out or keep fresh fruit and drink available. Bea provides plenty of tourism packets for plans on hikes, excursions, maps, attractions, events and she will even provide recommendations suitable for your particular needs. The beds are 2 singles - not a double - and are comfortable. Internet and TV with cable are a plus. It is extremely private (high bushes) from the street, however, those who are not used to city traffic should be warned that it is a highly traversed street from early morning to late at night. The only other caveat is that it is not a private individual apartment as listed. The lobby is actually a common area shared with the (quiet!!) household and the toilet is accessible in the lobby. All the doors open in the photo are not available with 1 1/2 room rental.
Bea is an A++ host and will do all she can to make your stay in Chur comfortable!
We had a wonderful time at this home. The house was very welcoming, with a full kitchen, comfortable living room and bedrooms, and great bathroom with in-floor heating and excellent water pressure. The home was very clean and supplied with everything outlined in the listing.
If you stay here, you'll get a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and valley below, and beautiful drives along roads carved into the mountainside, through quaint towns. Just make sure you are prepared for what this means -- winding drives on switchback roads at night, no major town within a half-hour drive. As long as you're aware that you are staying on a mountainside, you'll love this rental.
We spent our days skiing at Arosa, a 25-minute drive from the house. This ski resort had beautiful trails and snow; just be aware if you are coming from American-style skiing that there is no concept of a base lodge. You should arrive at the base lift with only what you mean to carry all day, and there are only restaurants and bars on the mountain, no cafeteria-style lodges.
We stayed in winter, with a foot of snow on the ground, but could see the signs for various sure-to-be-beautiful hiking trails around the house were we to come in summer!
Lastly, the owner was very easy to coordinate with even though we speak no German.
