We had a lovely stay over New Year at this holiday home perfect for families, ours... us in our fifties, three daughters 28,25,22 and soninlaw 31 and boyfriend 22... and dog. The games conservatory was an absolute hit especially with the boys we could all make as much noise as we liked and didn’t disturb movie bingeing in the living room. The weather was dismal. We couldn’t see beyond the fence until the morning we left...what a surprise it was beautiful! We drove to Ilfracombe stocked up at Tesco and had a good walk around one day, I’m sure it’s much lovelier in the summer. We also visited Lynmouth also lovely. New Years Eve we walked to the pub in the village for lunch...great food and friendly barman. Some issues to warn of... two of the three GPSs took us straight to the door, the third took us to west Hill instead, despite having your map for just that circumstance the scale wasn’t clear and we missed the bins and drove all the way through the village. Luckily we found a nice man who helped us since there was no phone coverage for six of the seven of us and therefore no help from the Internet... maybe some verbal instructions tacked on would help! WiFi in the house worked perfectly! The bedrooms were comfy and enough bathroom space/ comfort for all of us. We did have an issue with the heating though, either too hot or too cold we just couldn’t get it worked out but the dog figured out it’s always warm by the Aga. Any advice on that just google it, we had great big breakfasts and roasts for dinner we even managed perfect Yorkshire puds! We went to do some washing and realized nobody had brought any liquid/powder and there was none in the house...a basic few pods like for the dishwasher would be nice. We had planned to do more walking nearby but with the fog/drizzle and no phone coverage we were afraid of getting lost, maybe some local maps in the house would be nice? I know it’s relatively new to the home away family of homes so this wasn’t meant to be criticism but more constructive suggestions. We loved the home and really appreciated the cleanliness, fresh decoration...loved the dining room...( had a great game night in there!) the fact that there was plenty of crockery, China and glasses...all the amenities we could want and bottom line we would happily book again and recommend to our friends.
Clean, warm, well furnished, lovely beds, great views from the top floor. We all loved it! Thank you Jacqui and her caretaker. We were 7 adults, oldest 86 yrs, and twin babies of 8 weeks. Suited is perfectly. Porlock sooo pretty for Xmas too..we will be back next year..
